Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia: We had a long meeting with Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez. We had agreed to work as a team and it means in the implementation of the plan to vaccinate many, there should be coordination (between national and local gov't).
Leonardia is also the League of Cities of the Philippines National President.
Leonardia: The procurement (of vaccines) should have to be done by the national government and cascaded to the local government. The implementation, it would be impossible for the national government to do it themselves.
Leonardia: In terms of prioritization, while we will be guided by the DOH, the list must come from the local gov't.
Leonardia: On a uniform rate for the local governments, it will be a case-to-case basis. Some local gov'ts can afford to spend for everybody in their locality while some cannot. It will have to be dealt with on a case-to-case basis. (1/2)
Leonardia: Sec. Galvez volunteered to be there to handle the details. (2/2)
Leonardia on whether residents should be choosy with vaccines or not: If we have one brand in Bacolod and some of our constituents want another vaccine that is not available, how can we possibly pursue the project?
Leonardia: We have to buy the vaccines according to what is available and what is our budget.
