seeing that many are confused about assange & lend credence to some of the smears which have been propagated about him by the powerful, here is a comprehensive list by @caitoz addressing all of them caityjohnstone.medium.com/debunking-all-…
"Have you ever noticed how whenever someone inconveniences the dominant western power structure, the entire political/media class rapidly becomes very, very interested in letting us know how evil and disgusting that person is?"
- @caitoz
"Corrupt and unaccountable power uses its political and media influence to smear Assange because, as far as the interests of corrupt and unaccountable power are concerned, killing his reputation is as good as killing him."
- @caitoz
"If everyone can be paced into viewing him with hatred & revulsion, they’ll be far less likely to take WikiLeaks publications seriously, & they’ll be far more likely to consent to Assange’s imprisonment, thereby establishing a precedent for the future prosecution of..journalists"
seeing some of you assuming i'm some sort of trump supporter, no. trump is a war criminal too. in fact all US presidents are problematic, that's not just because of them as people, but also bc of the system that allows only a certain type of foreign or domestic policy decisions
this is heartbreaking. as a european, i still can't fathom how people in the richest country on earth have to struggle without universal healthcare
don't believe US americans who tell you that it isn't possible bc the US is so large, the gdp per capita is still much higher than many of the countries who have universal healthcare. the "richest" does not apply to most ppl ofc, but to a highly concentrated group of exploiters
it would even
SAVE MONEY!!!!!
but the big insurers and the hedgefunds invested in them wouldn't make as much money, instead of having a net worth of $20 billion these poor rich guys would only have $18 billion
had to learn that some US americans still justify the use of atomic bombs in japan. are you.. serious?
my history teacher in switzerland tried to twist it in such a way so its use seemed inevitable, so i get how ppl get stuck in that narrative at a young age. but srsly, how come you're not immediately skeptical whenever someone tries to justify fucking nuclear warfare?
this is terrifying. but propaganda only exists in north korea apparently
the greates obstacle to organizing the working class is wage labor itself. people need to work long hours to survive, they come home late, are physically & mentally exhausted, need to take care of their kids, leaving them with little time to reflect on the system which runs them
they are coerced into spending their savings on stuff they don't really need, the system rewards them for being selfish, they are alienated from their social nature - cooperating with others towards a common goal.
wage labor is the mode of survival, people are kept from doing or saying anything which threatens their chances of getting or not losing a job. reflection & activism require time, energy, & resources; steal those from people and you ensure their obedience
