Update: Klete Keller, the Olympic gold medalist from USC charged in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot, was arrested today and is scheduled to make his initial appearance in federal court in Denver this afternoon.
Klete Keller's initial appearance before a federal magistrate judge in Denver just concluded. Keller will be released on a personal recognizance bond (i.e. he doesn't have to put up cash). He can't travel to D.C. (his attorneys are based there) until after the inauguration.
Keller didn't say much during the hearing, as expected, other than answering procedural questions from the judge.
Of the three charges Keller faces, the first carries a maximum of five years in prison, the second has a maximum of one year in prison and the third has a maximum of six months in prison.
Update: Klete Keller's attorney, Edward MacMahon Jr., declined comment on the charges against his client in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot. MacMahon's past representations include Zacarias Moussaoui in connection with 9/11.
