ARRESTED: John Earle Sullivan of UT, leader of Insurgence USA, through which he organizes protests.
Prosecutors says he was the Capitol riot leading a chant: “it’s time for a revolution.” Video shows him say: “we about to burn this shit down...we got to rip Trump out of office”
“...f*cking pull him out of that sh*t . . . we ain’t waiting until the next election . . . we about to go get that motherf*cker.”
Sullivan told FBI he was there to attend & film the “Stop the Steal” march, claiming to be an activist & journalist but did not have press credentials
All of this information I’m giving you is from the complaint which details allegations against him: He wore a ballistic vest & a gas mask, & entered the Capitol through a broken window.
Sullivan told law enforcement he had been present when the woman was shot by the USCP officer and he had filmed the incident and had uploaded it to the internet.
At various point during a video he shot as the crowd broke through the barricade surrounding the Capitol, Sullivan can be heard saying: There are so many people. Let’s go. This sh*t is ours! F*ck yeah,”
We accomplished this sh*t. We did this together. F*ck yeah! We are all a part of this history,” & “Let’s burn this shit down.”
Sullivan’s video includes footage of people scaling the wall, in which he can be heard saying: “You guys are f*cking savage. Let’s go!”
When Sullivan encounters law enforcement who can be heard telling the crowd with Sullivan to stand down, Sullivan can be heard saying:
“you are putting yourself in harm’s way,”
“the people have spoken,” and...
there are too many people, you gotta stand down, the people out there that tried to do that shit, they got hurt, I saw it, I’m caring about you.”
Sullivan then proceeded to show himself breaking a window inside the Capitol saying, “I broke it. My bad, my apologies.
Well they already broke a window, so, you know, I didn’t know I hit it that hard. No one got that on camera.”
Another point Sullivan is part of a crowd trying to open doors to another part of the Capitol and says “Hey guys, I have a knife.”
“I have a knife. Let me up.” But he doesn’t make it to the doors. In the January 11 interview he denied having a knife.
Walking down a hallway Sullivan says: “That’s what I’m sayin’, break that shit.” Further down the hall, Sullivan can be heard saying, “It would be fire if someone had revolutionary music and shit.”
In the area where Ashli Babbitt was eventually fatally shot, Sullivan tells an officer: “We want you to go home. I’m recording and there’s so many people and they’re going to push their way up here. Bro, I’ve seen people out there get hurt. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
As law enforcement in that area start to exit and more people move toward the doors, Sullivan is heard yelling after the officers, “I want you to go home,” and then yelling, “Go! Go! Get 15 this shit!”
Sullivan has claimed to be a journalist, to which the Agent says “He has admitted, however, that he has no press credentials and the investigation has not revealed any connection between Sullivan and any journalistic organizations.”
He’s charged with:
•Restricted Building or Grounds
•Civil Disorders
•Violent Entry or Disorderly Conduct
He was previously arrested in Provo, UT on July 13, 2020 for Rioting and Criminal mischief based on his activities at the June 30th protest in which a civilian was shot and injured. The case is still pending.
