ARRESTED: Bryan Betancur, a self professed white supremacist whose GPS monitor placed him at capitol, prosecutors say. He’s made statements to law enforcement about being a member of several white supremacy organizations. He was arrested today in Maryland.

...made comments about conducting a school shooting & has researched mass shootings. He even voiced support for James Fields who killed Heather Heyer with his car during the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. Betancur has since said he changed his mind about hurting people
Betancur was convicted for fourth degree burglary and following his release engaged with racially motivated violent extremist groups on the internet, expressing his desire to be a “lone wolf killer.”
Betancur’s parole officer informed the FBI that he claimed to have been inside the Capitol with the rioters on the 6th. He said he was tear gassed and was paranoid about the FBI watching him. He later recanted the statement but maintained he was teargassed.
Betancur was IDed in a social media post from the account bryan_patriot 1776 holding the corner of the confederate battle flag.
In another photo from that account Betancur appears in a proud boys t-shirt flashing the “OK” hand signal which is commonly used among white supremacy groups.
