Republican claims of voter fraud are their excuse for voter suppression.

1986 GOP Memo Released under court order - shows Black vote has been cut (as planned)

By the way, the consent decree that came out of this ended in 2020, allowing the RNC to go back to voter caging

1986 - NY Times
"Ballot Integrity" is designed to suppress Black voter participation. The GOP uses false allegations of fraud to justify voter suppression. Trump is nothing new.
#VoteFraudLiesSuppressTheVote
1998 One of the worst cases of absentee voter fraud was on behalf of a Republican candidate, Xavier Suarez
2000 Republicans were fine completing absentee ballot applications
2004 They never stop lying
#VoterFraudLiesAreVoterSuppression
Back to 1968 - Just 3 years after the Voting Rights Act is passed, here are the Republicans attacking preclearance.
1976 - They tried to overturn votes then, too
In 1977, Jimmy Carter proposed Universal Voter Registration Act. Here it is
Nothing new, Nixon opposed federal aid in voter registration. 1971
Also, there's nothing new in people preventing college students from voting
So, in 1977, Republicans at first supported Carter's Universal Voter Registration. This is from Ron Perlstein's "Reaganland." But the New Right (Reagan's Racist Right) were against it.
Look at Jeff Sessions, in 1985, prosecuting the Marion 3 for helping voters get absentee ballots.

usatoday.com/story/opinion/…
In 2000, lines were so long due to a dubious purge that a judge ordered the voting to stay open until everyone in line voted, but was overturned on appeal.
Ashcroft set all the US Attorneys to investigate voter fraud and prosecute. In 5 years, they had 86 convictions, and not one a conspiracy. Also conflated voter registration with voter fraud. They are not the same
Never let them confuse voter registration fraud with voter fraud.
I have volunteered on voter registration campaigns. One year, I rode the bus with voter registration cards and asked people to register while on the bus. Folks filled it out and handed it back. I was required to turn them all in, even the ones filled out with Mickey Mouse & Elvis
The organization I volunteered with was also required to turn them in. $5000 fine if turned in more than 5 days after it was filled out. NO MATTER THE NAME. Now, some election officials call those examples of election fraud. They are not. That person is not going to show up
to vote as Mickey Mouse. In some states, my organization would have been accused of fraud in press releases, but not in any legal case. They could not indict us for a crime because turning in bogus/phony registrations is required. But if they were Kobach, for example, they might
do a press release. Thankfully, Oregon officials are not like Kobach.
So what about Donald Trump's fraud commission. Hans von Spakovsy, a notorious advocate of voter suppression, touted a Heritage Foundation report from an fraud database of over 1100 cases of election fraud - (going back to 1948) It was easily discredited
brennancenter.org/sites/default/…
Hans von Spakovsky is a real special case. He served some time in the Justice Dept and abused his power to block investigations into civil rights violations and to promote voter suppression laws.
brennancenter.org/our-work/resea…
He also discouraged Republicans from allowing accommodations for COVID
propublica.org/article/no-dem…
Kris Kobach is infamous for his efforts to purge voter rolls, so is Brian Kemp. There are many Republicans who participate in efforts to suppress Black vote, but Hans von Spakovsky is special.

If you want to read up on voter caging efforts, here is a report from Project Vote.

Here is an excellent editorial pointing out that the real fraud is the GOP claims about voter fraud.

charlotteobserver.com/opinion/editor…
And voter suppression efforts continue, more sophisticated than ever
publicintegrity.org/politics/elect…
All the Republican claims about voter fraud are really whines that their suppression efforts didn't suppress the vote enough. Believe me, they will be back with more efforts than ever before.
theguardian.com/us-news/2019/d…
Republicans will use Trump's lies about voter fraud to make it harder to vote. They have been doing that for years. Now they have the Supreme Court fully on their side.
reuters.com/article/us-usa…
And if you doubt that, look at this ruling. The Supreme Court said partisan gerrymandering is A-OK.

vox.com/policy-and-pol…
By the way, Sen. John McCain was doing the same shit.
factcheck.org/2008/10/acorn-…
Also, ACORN was framed. That whole Veritas bullshit was bullshit

jstor.org/stable/4098464…
Sen. John McCain, who gets more veneration than he deserved, did the same thing -
factcheck.org/2008/10/acorn-…
And ACORN was framed. It was all bullshit

jstor.org/stable/4098464…
And let's not leave Pence out of this. Here is a case of an organization flagging voter registrations that seemed off and then being accused of the problem they brought to the registrar's attention.
newsday.com/opinion/commen…
Many organizations use paid gatherers for petitions and voter registration. If they get paid per registration or signature, they are incentivized to cheat. Most do not, but a few will. They are not defrauding the voters because fake registrations cannot vote, they don't exist.
They are defrauding the organization that hired them, to get more pay than they earned. Organizations check registrations to compile a GOTV database before submitting them and most flag problem registrations with a sticky note. It's ridiculous that people like Kobach and Lawson
use that to accuse the organization of fraud when the organization is being defrauded by an employee - one who is fired as soon as discovered.
Consider Kris Kobach, the voter purge advocate. He had his chance to prove it in court and ended up looking like the lying ass he is.
propublica.org/article/kris-k…
How bad is Kris Kobach's Operation Crosscheck?

washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2…
Kris Kobach seems to think if there are two John Smiths who were born on the same date, they are one person.
So it's shitty information that has 200 false positives for 1 correct one, but 28 states still use it
OK, there's tons more, but I am tired and CNN's report on Kamala is on, so /fin

Dear Fellow White People,

Do not preach to Black people about there being only one race-the human race. While scientifically true, it's is culturally, politically, and economically false. Race may not exist but racism does. The "see no color" lie is an abstention from humanity
Yes, race is a "social construct" and we are actors in society and saying it's just a construct while doing nothing to deconstruct it, is cowardice at best and malignant in its ends.
Using the language of anti-racism to abnegate your duty to reject white supremacy and dismantle racism is about as offensively self-indulgent and white supremacist as you can get.

I was on the phone with my health insurance. My cat begins trilling and talking and the CS asks, "Is that your baby?" I told her it was my cat. She said, "Sounds like a human baby." Nope, a cat. She laughs and was so much more helpful after the cat love.
This has happened before, so now when I have to call some customer service, I wait until my cat sits on the back of the chair because she will always start talking while I am on the phone. She is fascinated by the voices coming from the phone. Sometimes she chews on the phone.
And when I say, "stop trying to eat the phone." the CS is definitely going to be super helpful.

This is important and connects several of the right-wing conspiracist organizations.

For all their "Blue Lives Matter" talk, the alt-right has little respect for police. Think of Cliven Bundy ignoring all federal law enforcement, saying he will only honor the sheriff and, of course, the sheriff would not enforce the law. A lot of people on the right believe only
sheriffs are legal law enforcement and all the rest are agents of tyranny. Sheriffs existed before the Magna Carta and fit into the sovereign citizen idea that the federal government is illegitimate. Well, except when it upholds white supremacy

So, sometimes I can be pretty brash if it's for someone else. A friend and I went to DC for a conference and we were at a hotel near Dupont Circle. She was so disappointed when we went out to dinner because she didn't see many Black people.
As a Black woman from Portland, she was eager to, for once in her life, be in the majority, among lots of Black people. Well, that was not going to happen at the hotel or Dupont Circle so I said, come on, let's eat somewhere else. We caught a cab and
I asked the driver, who was Black, to take us where the Black people are. I explained we were from Portland and my friend has never been to a place where there were mostly Black people, so could he help. So he took us to another neighborhood and dropped us at a cafe.

Sam Stein really hates when women make money from their expertise.
Biden's not even sworn in but Stein's on the case. Look at his diligence during Trump.
That's it.

I struggle with who is the worst president, James Buchanan or Donald Trump. There's reason to choose Reagan as well, so how about a poll? The worst American president in history is:
I think folks are familiar with Reagan and Trump, but not Buchanan, so here is his indictment. He knew secession was coming and set the Union up for defeat.
There's more to show Buchanan served as an agent of the Confederacy while he was president. So, he was a traitor.
