Today we finished a project that started almost exactly five years ago. A complete account of every person, place or thing President Trump insulted on Twitter since he declared his candidacy for president.
I started this in late 2015 with then-intern @jasmineclee and @jeremybmerrill. Back then, it was still simply shocking to see some of these insults on the internet, and to know that it was actually Trump himself who was sending them.
I had just read a @MarkLeibovich piece in NYT Mag (Nov. 2015) and passage was still with me months later:

Yes, in many ways this project is dumb and exhausting — there is already mail in my inbox — but I also think it's the only thing I've ever published that might be read by historians in 100 years. There's nothing like it!
