One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way by Robert Maurer
A journey of a thousand miles must begin with the first step.

- Lao Tzu
Look for the hundred small things you can change.
When you improve a little each day, eventually big things occur.

- John Wooden
Where innovation demands shocking and radical reform, all kaizen asks is that you take small, comfortable steps toward improvement.
Why kaizen works

You are scared of change.

You don’t want to make a radical change.

With kaizen - small steps disarm the brain’s fear response, making change possible.
Don’t be frozen by the big questions.

Ask smaller questions that lead you to the answer.
Your brain wants to play.

Ask it questions.

Engage it.
Examples of questions to ask yourself

- if you were guaranteed not to fail, what would you be doing differently?

- what is one small step you could take toward reaching your goal?
Small steps lead to rapid change.
Focus on the small problems.

If left, small problems will grow and grow until it becomes a major problem.
Confront the difficult while it is still easy; accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.

- Tao Te Ching
Don’t ignore the early warning signs.
