Today marks 11 years since #CitizensUnited—when SCOTUS opened the floodgates for billions in dark money to pour into our elections + corrode our democracy. (1/4)
Our political system is fundamentally broken, and at the core of this deep rot is money. Show me a supposedly “unfixable” problem in Washington and I’ll show you the political corruption standing in its way. (2/4)
When the NRA wants to block changes to our nation’s gun laws, it pours money into elections to ensure members of Congress vote against even the most common sense reforms. The story is the same with polluters. Insurance and drug companies. Oil companies. The list goes on. (3/4)
We must get big, unaccountable money out of our elections and put power back into the hands of the people. It's time to pass the #ForThePeopleAct and end #CitizensUnited. Grateful to @StopBigMoney and @Tiffany_Muller for leading this fight. (4/4)

Thanksgiving looks different this year. Our country is hurting. We’ve suffered enormous loss, and I know it can feel like there’s no end in sight. I wanted to share a few of the ways I’ve been taking care of myself and my family these days (1/10)
1) Give back. Our country is facing an unprecedented hunger crisis, and our nation’s food banks are stretched thin. If you’re fortunate enough to be safe and healthy this Thanksgiving, consider making a donation to @FeedingAmerica (2/10) secure.feedingamerica.org/site/Donation
And if you’re in need of assistance, you can use Feeding America’s website to search for a food bank in your area (3/10) feedingamerica.org/find-your-loca…

Today, the Supreme Court begins reviewing a restrictive anti-abortion law in Louisiana. Pay close attention to this case and what happens, because if upheld, it would put every woman’s right to safe, legal abortion in serious jeopardy.

I'll tell you more about it:
Louisiana's law required abortion providers to have “admitting privileges” at a hospital within 30 miles of where they practice, effectively giving hospitals veto power over whether providers can continue to give care for any reason—including religious or ideological differences.
The stakes could not be higher. If the Supreme Court allows this law to take effect, all but one clinic in Louisiana would be forced to close, leaving just one doctor to provide abortion care for the nearly one million residents who may need it.

I’m looking forward to many things in 2020, but I'd say I'm most excited about some of the amazing women candidates running for Congress. As we close out 2019, I want to highlight a few @getots-endorsed Senate candidates who you should pay attention to. Check them out! 👇
@getots .@JeanneShaheen is one of the most graceful, impressive leaders I’ve worked with in Washington. But New Hampshire’s status as a presidential battleground means that her seat is a top target for Republicans. Let's make sure we keep her critical seat. secure.actblue.com/donate/ots_jsh…
@getots @JeanneShaheen .@TinaSmithMN’s likely opponent is former Rep. Jason Lewis, who lost his seat in 2018 after making disgusting comments disparaging women, minorities, the LGBTQ community, and people with disabilities. We can’t afford to lose her voice in the Senate: secure.actblue.com/donate/ots_smi…

I'm proud that we put women front and center in my campaign. And while this chapter is over, there’s still work to be done to bring more women to the decision-making table.

That’s why I’m committing to raise and invest at least $1 million to elect women candidates in 2020.
In 2012, I launched Off The Sidelines (@getots) with the mission of getting women elected to Congress—because we’re half the population, but still only make up just over twenty percent of the body that’s supposed to reflect the people of this country.
Off The Sidelines aims to change that by encouraging and financially backing women who want to get off the sidelines and into public office.

Although my campaign for president is over, I’m still as determined as ever to elect women up and down the ballot.

Today we remember the 20 children and 6 educators who were killed by a gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary six years ago. My heart is with every family who has spent the last six years grappling with the heartbreak of losing a loved one. And all the while, Congress has failed to act.
We’ve seen the nightmare of gun violence repeat itself in schools, movie theaters, churches, nightclubs, concerts – and every single day in cities across our country. Despite these tragedies, we’re still seeing the same thing from Congress: complete inaction. Enough is enough.
On this painful anniversary, I encourage you to fight for reform. Call your members of Congress at 202-224-3121 to demand they take action to prevent future tragedies from claiming more lives. Speak out against the NRA, and say shame on any lawmaker who won’t stand up to it.
