YouTube is rolling out more advanced hashtag searching in their app.
Since you can upload your videos from Tuneform directly to your YouTube channel, here's some advice to make your music more discoverable, as well as some mistakes to ignore:
- Place your hashtags in your video title or description, (not in tags).
Your first three hashtags will appear prominently above your video. We'd suggest your artist name, album title, and the genre(s) of your track.
- DON'T use more than 15 hashtags total.
If you use more than 15, YouTube will ignore ALL the hashtags and potentially de-rank or remove your video from search results completely
- Make your hashtags relevant
YouTube will penalize you if you add hashtags that aren't directly related to your video.
Right now, the hashtag page results are sorted algorithmically, but hopefully we'll see something soon that resembles the "recent" feed in Instagram or Twitter
When you connect your YouTube account with Tuneform, you'll have the ability to specify your Title & Description directly from the app.
