Fauci says the infection rate when looked at over the past 7 days (Trump's final days) may be plateauing.
Fauci says the coronavirus mutation in the U.K. seems to have twice the transmissibility, tho it does not appear to be more deadly on a 1-to-1 basis. He says the South Africa & Brazil mutations seem to harm the effectiveness of the monoclonal antibodies that have been developed.
Fauci says it does not appear that the South Africa strain of the coronavirus is yet here in the U.S.
Fauci says Biden Admin is "certainly not starting from scratch" on vaccine distribution etc. & says they are "taking what's gone on & amplifying it" & were "some ideas that were not bad ideas from the previous administration" & called it a "continuation but a real ramping up."
Fauci says there is nothing he wasn't able to say during the Trump Admin that he'd want to say now - says he always spoke his mind and that got him in trouble sometimes.
Fauci said there were things said re: hydroxychloroquine during Trump admin not based on science, "I take no pleasure at all" contradicting POTUS, he felt there'd be consequences contradicting Trump, w/ Biden science can speak for itself & "it basically is a liberating feeling."
BTW worth noting there were no questions for Fauci about the Biden Admin's decision to rejoin the World Health Organization & to reverse the Mexico City Policy, despite Fauci being the one who made the official announcement of the Biden Admin decision on these things this morn.
