I googled “pelvic instability.” That’s all. I clicked on this article(pictured) which I thought sounded mechanically interesting. He mentioned this ‘Badgley Book Test” to examine SI joint instability. I googled that. And I found this tweet... mentioning EDS 😮👉〰️👈
When EDS comes to me when I’m not looking for it, I feel like I’m a detective, on the right path. This browser doesn’t remember what I’ve searched for in the past so, if EDS turns up, it found me.
I’ve been having trouble for a decade with my toe joint. Now that I’m really investigating it... I’ve been led to wonder if an ankle issue led to foot and then to back & leg issues, or if it came from the top down, beginning with an unstable SI joint. 🧐
I’ve now become aware of the fact that my left leg is weak. Perhaps, experiencing nerve issues. I’d noticed odd bumps raise on my thigh if I started doing activities that may have irritated nerves.
I recall Liz saying PT for her pelvis helped her neck & I thought... oh no—what if that’s part of my problem? I hadn’t thought it could also be impacting my toe.
As I start to hone in on this, I realize, wait... my left shoulder is the one that went out—& my left side is kind of collapsed. What came first? Unstable ankle → avoidance behavior/unbalanced walking → nerve pinch → weakness. Or did it start with a pinched nerve?
It feels like so often with hEDS you end up playing a chicken or the egg game. Or, once you start addressing an issue, you realize there’s a whole chain of instability & dysfunction connected to it.
We must always consider that our issues are caused by or causing another.
Anyhow, because it’s an important center of stability, I wouldn’t be surprised to find an unstable/dysfunctional SI joint is a major villain in my story, creating problems, above & below. And if you have unstable connective tissue, it may be a big clue for you, too. #eds#heds
More evidence that pelvis/SI joint instability is a shared EDS problem. Adding this to this ongoing CLUES thread. Perhaps Allison will find a helpful stabilization aid & it will eventually appear in her thread. I’ve been looking, too.
