Pyramiding in trading refers to adding more quantity to your trading position when position goes in your favour and you are in profit.

Many people follow different approach for pyramiding like entering on every swing high breakout e.t.c. but the best way of pyramiding according to me is buying on pattern breakouts means once you enter into a position and positions goes in your favour,
look for continuation patterns and if you find one, you can enter on pattern breakout with new SL as per the pattern. You can take SL as latest swing low(in daily chart) while pyramiding. This will help you in finding targets also. Now let's discuss this with few examples -

Risk management and position sizing :- Whenever you do pyramiding, you can now take risk half of your initial risk each time and make position sizing accordingly. I always prefer SL on closing basis.
