Per WaPo:
Trump is working behind the scenes to create a MAGA Party
-endorsing Kelli Ward in AZ
-to primary those who voted against him
-& bc he feels the threat will give him leverage over GOP who may vote to convict him
washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
2-"In a recorded phone call, Trump offered his “complete and total endorsement” for another term for Arizona state party chairwoman Kelli Ward, a lightning rod who has sparred with the state’s Republican governor, been condemned by the business community and overseen a recent
3-"flight in party registrations. She narrowly won reelection, by a margin of 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent, marking Trump’s first victory in a promised battle to maintain political relevance and influence after losing the 2020 election.
4-"In recent weeks, Trump has entertained the idea of creating a third party, called the Patriot Party, and instructed his aides to prepare election challenges to lawmakers who crossed him in the final weeks in office,
5-"including Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Rep. Tom Rice (R-S.C.), according to people familiar with the plans.
6-"Multiple people in Trump’s orbit, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations, say Trump has told people that the third-party threat gives him leverage to prevent Republican senators from voting to convict him during the Senate impeachment trial.
7-"Trump advisers also say they plan to recruit opposing primary candidates and commission polling next week in districts of targeted lawmakers. Trump has more than $70 million in campaign cash banked to fund his political efforts, these people say.
8-"The prospect of a divisive battle threatens to widen a split in the Republican Party and has alarmed leaders in Washington, who have been pleading publicly to avoid any new rounds of internecine retribution.
9-"House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Republican Party Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel are among the leaders who have worked to protect politicians like Cheney,
10-"who supported Trump’s second impeachment and now faces an internal effort to remove her from her role as the third-highest-ranking member of the House Republican leadership.
11-"McDaniel has also spoken out about the idea of a third-party split, while repeatedly pushing back against moves by Arizona state party leaders to censure fellow Republicans, such as Gov. Doug Ducey and Cindy McCain, the widow of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.),
12-"who have broken with Trump. (The Arizona party on Saturday night censured Ducey, McCain and former Arizona senator Jeff Flake, all longtime establishment Republicans.).." ~excerpts WaPo

Word today that the reason Biden's Cabinet noms are moving so slowly is bc McConnell is gumming up the works over this filibuster deal he wants Schumer to cut
Mitch won't agree to an organizing res w/o it
Chuck won't do it (he shouldn't)
W/o it GOP still tech run the Committees
1
McConnell's doing it again..
It's not clear what will break this stalemate
But the pressure on both parties is growing
Pelosi told donors last night that she wants to pass relief in 2 wks using budget reconciliation
But she (America) has to wait bc Mitch won't budge
2
And we all know that the second GOP take power back if Mitch wants to, he'll pop that filibuster sky high
Schumer knows it too
But Manchin (him again), Tester & Sinema want to keep it
Harris & 26 other Dems signed a ltr in '17 saying keep it
While AOC & even Obama say dump it

Breaking:
(here we go..)
Per WaPo:
Army 'falsely denied for days' that Michael Flynn's brother Lt. Gen. Charles A. Flynn was in the room for a tense 1/6 phone call during which USCP & D.C. officials pleaded with DOD to dispatch the Nat'l Guard urgently
washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
2-"The general’s presence during the call — which has not previously been reported — came weeks after his brother publicly suggested that President Donald Trump declare martial law and have the U.S. military oversee a redo of the election.
3-"There is no indication that Charles Flynn shares his brother’s extreme views or discharged his duties at the Pentagon on Jan. 6 in any manner that was influenced by his brother.

Remember us talking about how a fmr President's family would have to request Secret Service protection after a term ends?
Guess what:
Trump extended SS for 13 members of his family for 6 mos
And it's gonna cost us...
washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
2-"According to three people briefed on the plan, Trump issued a directive to extend post-presidency Secret Service protection to his four adult children, who were not automatically entitled to receive it.
3-"Under federal law, Trump, his wife Melania and their 14-year-old son are the only members of his immediate family entitled to Secret Service protection after they leave office.

Word out of DC that McConnell has today been pushing Schumer to keep the filibuster intact as part of any 'power sharing' deal they might make in the 50/50 Senate
Schumer isn't agreeing to that
Which is complicating/holding up any accord between the two leaders
Good for Chuck!
Schumer is reportedly pushing back on McConnell to agree to the power sharing deal used in the 2001 50/50 Senate when Cheney was VP/tiebreaker giving GOP the majority
Schumer's spox today: "Ldr Schumer & Ldr McConnell had a substantiative meeting & made progress
"on the issues of quickly confirming Biden's nominees & conducting a fair impeachment trial.."
Mitch: "We had a good discussion this afternoon"

Fox News multi-million $ settlement w Seth Rich's family came just before Dobbs & Hannity were to be depo'd
-was enough that Fox didn't have to apologize publicly
-Fox insisted it be kept secret til after the election
nytimes.com/2021/01/17/bus…
2-"On Oct. 12, 2020, Fox News agreed to pay millions of dollars to the family of a murdered Democratic National Committee staff member, implicitly acknowledging what saner minds knew long ago: that the network had repeatedly hyped a false claim that the young staff member,
3-"Seth Rich, was involved in leaking D.N.C. emails during the 2016 presidential campaign. (Russian intelligence officers, in fact, had hacked and leaked the emails.)
