New: Along with @accountable_us, we launched the Campaign Against Corporate Complicity, to call on companies to fully vet any former Trump administration officials who seek refuge in corporate America.

Donald Trump amassed a record of cruelty, ineptitude, and unprecedented harm to public health and national security, but he did not do it alone. Trump's abuses were aided and implemented by scores of individuals who leave behind them a paper trail of complicity.
As the architects of family separation and Trump's assault on our democracy go looking to reinvent their resumes, America's business leaders must live up to their values — and the public will be watching closely.
The campaign will ask CEOs of major companies, media organizations, publishing houses, and public speaking firms to avoid normalizing the harmful policies that senior-level Trump administration officials helped implement.

In 2019, Congress created the DHS Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman to “address issues that arise in DHS detention facilities.”

A new report from the ombudsman office, however, offers little new information on the state of immigration detention.
Immigrants detained by DHS often endure overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, cold temperatures, and inadequate medical care. The public deserves a full accounting of the state of immigration detention from the DHS Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman.

Former DOE Sec. Rick Perry's role as one of the Trump administration's "three amigos" in charge of Ukraine policy put a spotlight on his dealings with that country's government.

We've been investigating Perry's contacts with Ukrainian officials and obtained more records.
Among other things, we uncovered a June 2019 email from Perry’s chief of staff to SpaceX, trying to arrange a call between Ukrainian President Zelensky and Elon Musk.

DOJ’s inspector general’s office is investigating whether any former or current DOJ officials tried to have DOJ alter the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Here’s how we’re using FOIA requests to investigate potential DOJ efforts to undermine the election results.
Just a few days after Biden was projected as the winner, then-Attorney General William Barr issued a memo that authorized federal prosecutors to pursue any “substantial allegations” of election irregularities — in apparent support of Trump’s unfounded claims.
The directive, a departure from longstanding Justice Department policy prohibiting such overt investigations before official election results are certified, drew fierce criticism from career prosecutors.

Last spring, we received records that showed the CDC had a “novel-coronavirus” Slack channel. After we FOIA’d CDC, we obtained messages from the channel.

The records include guidelines that indicate all Slack messages are federal records subject to FOIA.

In the Slack messages, public health officials talked about pandemic-related trends across the country. In one conversation on March 20, 2020, public health officials discussed a drop in emergency hospital visits at the time.
The officials also discussed how to share data, specifically making Covid-related syndromic data publicly available, as well as the tracking of non-Covid syndromic data related to suicides, accidents, and mental health.
