Is Twitter blowing up? Maybe.
Should you be worried? Dunno.
Should you start preparing for the worst? Probably.
Here is a master thread (with resources) of things you should consider to help you protect your account, and ultimately your business. Please share 💗
There’s a lot happening right now, but until we get more answers, I see this as a good opportunity to take a SOLID look at the TOS and just make sure that we’re all following the rules. Don’t be scared, be PREPARED. Let’s brush up, shall we:
Start with making sure your profile/header pics are 100% PG. Forget lingerie pics. Your pfp does best when you have an identifiable face in it. DO NOT put links or adult logos in your header - keep that in your pinned tweet, which should be protected by sensitive content warnings
On that note, TURN YOUR SENSITIVE CONTENT WARNINGS ON! This should’ve been done years ago, if it’s not already. Mine can’t even be toggled off at this point lol… This and the profile/header photo are the most basic, and most important of all things.
If you have a 2nd or 3rd account for your biz, consider deleting it unless is serves a *different purpose entirely* such as a jewelry store or cooking blog… and STOP TWEETING THE WORDS “back//p acct”.. Why? Cuz then you can’t play innocent.
STOP USING AUTO-TWEETS TODAY! NOW! LIKE RIGHT NOW!! Disconnect auto-tweets from your account. If you want to delete past auto-tweets, here are some services that allow you to delete tweets with certain terms in it. Find a unique term in the auto-tweet, and purge all of those.
You don’t *need* to delete ALL your tweets, your aim is to clean up spammy behavior. But if you’re not attached to them, it could give you a fresh start to 2021. Before you do anything, if you desire, backup all your data by following these simple steps:
Tweet delete services have diff features (like deleting all tweets prior to X date) for diff prices, and most have *some* limitations, especially free versions. Make sure you read if your package covers what you want to achieve. Some tweet delete services are:
I found TweetEraser to be the most clear about what they offer on their page - they even accept payment with some types of Crypto! If you’re worried about losing your content, I highly suggest you backup your stuff before you run them, just in case
TweetDelete.net (not to be confused with TweetDeleter.com) may seem popular, but they have a few hard limitations, and possible issues with the timeline after - you may want to avoid them.
This is the article source that did the breakdown of these 3 platforms. It contains more info than what I posted here on all 3 services, in case you want more info.
STOP RT4RT!! ALSO: be careful RTing yourself, too. RT one tweet at a time, not multiple one after another, and do it SPARINGLY. These actions are bot-like behavior and can be picked up negatively by Twitter, who favors organic interaction and content.
If you’re worried about engagement dropping, join an engagement group that focuses on likes & replies, not RTs. Even then, exchanging interactions with the same accounts over and over will only fly under the radar if you post enough organically to offset this spammy behavior.
Vanity links that lead to adult sites, when you search your name & the site it’s routing to, it will still pull up your tweets with your vanity link. The system knows where it’s directing to. INCLUDING LINKTREE. Prettier for branding, but vanity links will not “avoid detection”
Posting links in general isn’t bad, but will impact things like shad//wbanning, etc… It’s more about how many links you post to avoid bot-like behavior, once again. Putting links in replies to your pics instead of in the initial tweet will help engagement on the original photo.
There’s not enough data to tell whether or not an adult related site in your bio is a problem. But by this time, you should have (or consider building) a simple, branded, SFW webpage asap that will exist even if we’re deplatformed everywhere, that links to all your services.
Buy your domain USING YOUR LEGAL NAME and make sure you have domain privacy to keep your personal info private - then set up hosting on Hostgator.com, and use Wordpress to build your site. Keep your site SIMPLE and to the point, so you don’t drown in WordPress
The super helpful @amberlyrothfield recommends buying the domain on NameCheap. If you need tutorials for all this, Amberly has many free resources on her website amberlyrothfield.com, and/or sign up to her AVN Stars or $2/m for more helpful info.
START COLLECTING EMAILS! This is the BIGGEST reason to have your own site. If we’re deplatformed everywhere, it’s a lot less likely that you’ll lose your email - this allows you to stay in touch with your fanbase, and let them know where to find you.
Another benefit to having your own site is the ability to host your own content. Keep in mind if you use Gmail, email is ok, but DO NOT store or distribute content via G//drive. Dr//pbox and WeTra//sfer are also not adult friendly.
To mass email your clients, you can choose a plan that suits your needs with adult friendly @YNOTmail. YNOT requires a bit of HTML coding. @amberlyrothfield, again, has resources for this on her AVN Stars. Or..
.. if you are not tech inclined or unwilling to learn the basics, you can also use the Jetpack plugin on WordPress as a backup plan. START COLLECTING EMAILS NOW, even if it's just manually, put them in a spreadsheet. Get a monthly or quarterly newsletter going. DO IT.
Making your profile private has absolutely zero impact if you’re being targeted for something. Totally useless.
Personally? I deleted my alternate accounts. My header is PG. I purged all auto-tweets back to the start of this account, and several tweets with clear adult links in it (but not all), and I deleted 95% of uncensored pics (until my pics stopped letting me scroll)
Deleting most of my noods was extreme, since the platform DOES allow adult for now with the right settings, as long as we’re not rule-breakers, but I was already considering going SFW/censored here anyways. I’m not saying I’ll never post a nood to the timeline ever again, but..
.. erring on the side of caution right now seems like the right thing to do. It’ll avoid me having to scramble at the last minute to tidy things up, if ever I need to. It can be time consuming, so I took the time. Plus, people now have to pay for their p//rn.
Aside from the essential basics, I have no idea if any of this will help. Some say yes, some say no. We’re always accused of being paranoid, until it’s too late. With the data that the lovely @amberlyrothfield & @dajanimal have collected, there’s def been an uptick in suspensions
There is also nothing definitive that says this lawsuit against Twitter will be taken any further, but we all know how relentless the anti-p//rn groups are…. Here’s a thread breaking down why it might not hold up in court.
All this thread is for, is to help people get on the lighter side of what may be some grey areas of the TOS, that are likely to be used against SWers to justify suspensions. We are always the example, cuz we’re seen as disposable.
If you have anything to contribute, please do so in the comments. I’ll do my best to correct misinformation. Ultimately, it’s up to YOU to make up your mind if you want to, or feel the need to censor up.
Stay safe out there, friends 💗
And I'M SO SORRY I had Amberly's Twitter wrong throughout the thread. Luckily she's a very popular lady and chances are you already follow her 😉
I don't understand why lawmakers work exclusively with survivors, implying they're out of the s//x trade and prob shouldn't be helping making laws for those who are *still working*. Why not go straight to the source??
Or is that my misconception of the term "survivor"?
Not discounting survivor's stories of course, but the term survivor is often used just like the term "trafficking", a buzz word to catch the attention of their target audience, completely negating workers who they're speaking over and making laws for.
If you can work with survivors, you can work with all of us.
I've done a lot of reading/research, so I'm putting together a master thread on what to do/not do in regards to this whole Twitter thing - and with resources. Granted they're all just suggestions, take it as far as you please 😘
I hope to have it up in the next 24 hours xx I'm busy gathering the remaining resources, and structuring the thread based on character limits lol
omg this thread is LONG, spending my entire day doing more research and putting this together 🤗
Today, 3 SEPARATE people, 3 diff situations/platforms, approached me for copies of stuff they bought but forgot to download/lost on old equipment, etc...
DOWNLOAD ALL YOUR PURCHASES
BACK THEM UP
ARTISTS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LOSS/LAZINESS
I'm not your data bank!
I even often say "download this as this link may not be available in one week" and then they DO NOT DOWNLOAD and cry when it's no longer streamable.
I'm gonna start charging $5 to resend, guys lol like cmonnnn, you're killin me here.
I'm very serious guys lol
Go back through all your Mel Kush messages/emails/purchases and download stuff. I'm only replacing stuff for free this week. After that there's a fee.
I'm retiring like 60+ vids soon so this is your 👉last chance👈
For anyone who doesn't know, there are ways you can use a smartphone to detect hidden cameras if ever you have any doubt! But as a sw, I highly recommend NOT renting from them. If they run your face through their facial recognition software, you're done. (and yes, they do)
I'll prob never rent an from them ever again. 2 models I rented with last time got banned cuz they appeared on cam together while at the property and were reported by a well-known troll. Somehow my account is intact? But prob red flagged up the wazoo.
PRO TIP - a lot of these exact same properties are available on other websites, like hotels .com. Hotels .com are actually my go-to, they also do gift cards and have a rewards system that gives you a free night every 10 nights. The credit is an average of the 10 nights you rented
