Guys, this public testimony reminds me of high school.

It's lame.

Then again this is a crowd that once produced someone who said "We need to start living courageously instead of in cowering fear. We are all probably going to catch covid, some of us will die. It will be very sad."

A caller phones in to lambaste Allard's defense of the pro-Nazi license plates

The pro-covid, presumably pro-Nazi crowd erupts in heckling: "LIES! LIES! HE'S DONE. WE DON'T CARE. WHY ARE YOU ALLOWING THIS MAN TO MAKE PERSONAL ATTACKS. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE SAME RULES!"

Allard makes an appeal, asking the people she's whipped up to not be quite so whipped up: "You need have my back."

Honestly, the call is so muffled over the livestream that I can't really hear. Something about how Decent Americans don't need to give room for Nazis and Nazi apologists.

Also, typically, I wouldn't have quite this much scorn about public testimony in my tweets but this is not a typical meeting.

Someone is getting removed from the room.

They're cutting off public testimony. "WHO DO YOU PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" hollers an asshole.

Bernadette Wilson: "ARE YOU REALLY THAT SCARED?"

These folks are a bad parody.

Assemblymember Zalatel says that she's working on some kind of reprimand for Allard, saying the assembly "should not let conduct like that pass without consequence or comment."

Also, this part of the hearing--where they're talking about policy--is far more interesting. Almost like everything else was extremely performative.
