For 3 years now, this brave Human Rights activist & father of 4 has slept on the floor, denied a mattress or pillow, in a tiny solitary cell in a desert prison in the #UAE - a country which zealously strives to portray itself as tolerant & rights-respecting #FreeAhmedMansoor
A must read with crucial new info - "To ensure Mansoor is deprived of any meaningful engagement with other prisoners, the prison admin. empties out the prison clinic, canteen & outdoor exercise space on the very infrequent occasions security officials allow him to access them"
"During those first years he could only stare out that window into the empty cell across from his... The prison administration also cut off his supply of hot water during the harshest winter months & denied him hot tea and access to the canteen."
"The UAE has largely remained insulated from meaningful criticism by its closest allies, including countries that purport to support human rights" - @AusAmbUAE

Incredible news from WA @MarkMcGowanMP says Border Force were aware crew members on the ship had temperatures but he says they did not inform Fremantle Ports who sent an employee onto the ship. News of ill health onboard came via word of mouth, says Premier, not from ABF
McGowan now said it was Department of Agriculture who were informed of the ill crew. Earlier he said ABF. "Red flags should have been raised... In particular by the commonwealth agencies who knew... we were not properly informed when we should have been"
Premier was just asked again & says that on the 20th of May, the Federal Department of Agriculture was made aware crew on board the ship were ill. Police Commissioner said he believes ABF was aware on 22nd, said he only found out last night from Freo Ports that people were ill.
There are guards outside Rahaf’s hotel room. It’s 6.20am in Thailand. She’s been threatened to be put on the 11.15 am @KuwaitAirways flight. She’s been denied access to a lawyer. She wants to speak to @UNHCRThailand and claim asylum #SaveRahaf
So the 11.15am @KuwaitAirways flight has left - Rahaf is safe and still at BKK. But the Thai government is reportedly blocking @UNHCRThailand from coming to speak with her? Why? #SaveRahaf
