Some people claim the Holocaust didn’t have a Jewish specificity.
Sadly they are wrong. Jews wish they weren’t wrong, but to our cost we know they are.
These are the facts. Stop bothering relatives of the victims of genocide on the day we remember them.
Attempts to de-Judaise the nature of the Holocaust are an insulting “all lives matter”.
They are motivated by racism or the need to accommodate a racist viewpoint which deliberately glosses over the facts
“It could have been you - we are all different”. No, it probably couldn’t have been you if you aren’t Jewish. That’s the point.
And if you don’t support the Jewish community against racism today, then you have not learned a thing about the Holocaust
The Holocaust didn’t magically appear, divorced from historical context.
The uniqueness of the Holocaust comes from the technology and determination to maximise its usage to wipe out Jews.
But the sentiment and attitudes behind it were very old
And now, especially on Holocaust Memorial Day, we see technology once again utilised to demonise Jews.
Social Media spreads lies and hate impressively fast and there is little to stop this tidal wave of incitement
So if you stay silent when Jews are abused. If you deny that antisemitism was central to the Holocaust. If you justify incitement against Jews because some live in a certain country.....
then you are complicit in creating an environment of hate that made the #Holocaust possible
In the UK, a Jewish person is more than twice as likely to suffer a racist attack than the next most attacked group.
The Holocaust is not some faraway tale. Racists don’t usually wear black boots and do Nazi salutes. Hatred against Jews finds ways of becoming socially acceptable
The finger of hate is again pointing at us, in living memory of our genocide.
The Holocaust was a plan to destroy Jews, among a history where anti-Jewish racism has been a near constant feature of non-Jewish society.
The denial of it is part of it. /end

Across the country Labour members are supporting Jeremy Corbyn and downplaying the EHRC report, against the official instructions of the party. So far:
When a Jewish student complains about racism being taught at her university, it is ‘McCarthyism’.
“Where is the freedom of speech of the person freely spouting antisemitism, I mean anti-Zionism?” they ask...
Jews don’t know about antisemitism! Jonathan has his own definition and coincidentally, it doesn’t reach his threshold. There’s no assault or destruction of property so what’s the problem?!....

Yesterday my Great Aunt Rachel died at the grand age of 100. Her family and almost everyone she knew were murdered. She fled with her life and nothing else.....
Everything she knew was destroyed - an entire culture. She always considered herself German but her countrymen had other other ideas. She escaped to safety in our historic homeland: Israel....
Survivors fled to Israel because people proved they cannot be trusted not to turn on Jews.
And if it was left to ‘anti-zionists’, jews would still be rootless, and slaves to the fickle whims of non-Jews....
This is how malicious antisemitism when masquerading as anti-Zionism
The video shows the children singing a song which yearns for Israel. Had it existed their lives would surely have been saved when the world shut its doors...
But a Jewish person cannot even mention our murdered children without being lectured about justifying Israel government policy by someone like @flyinmybeer. That is racist.
As is comparing Israel to the Nazis, according to the IHRA definition of Antisemitism...
If your sentence says “the Nazis were an abomination but...” then you are probably an antisemite.
An ignorant caricature of the Israel-Palestine conflict is absolutely no excuse...
