π Thomas Tuchel will be presented to the media at 1.30pm (UK) today!
Watch it πΉπΆππ² on Facebook, the 5th Stand app or our club website. #WelcomeTuchel
Tuchel starts by saying he 'absolutely couldn't miss the chance to join one of the biggest clubs in the world' and it was an 'easy choice'. He says he has big ambitions and his first days have been 'amazing'.
Tuchel hopes the Chelsea supporters will get behind him, and he completely understands why some will be disappointed Frank Lampard left. Tuchel reveals he received a message from Lampard today wishing him luck: 'I have the biggest respect for him and his legacy.'
Tuchel says he is happy with the squad size and adds Kante returned to training today so he has 22 outfield players to pick from. He thinks that is a good number considering our busy schedule and the fact we are in three different competitions.
Tuchel: 'People should be excited to come to Stamford Bridge and watch our team, and see a team playing with a special kind of energy and atmosphere, but at Chelsea we play for trophies and titles, we don't hide from that.'
Tuchel says it is a 'big, big challenge' to take over a team in the middle of the season, especially this one. He says we will miss the supporters in the stadium, and also because of social distancing rules at Cobham it is harder to create a bond between everyone.
Tuchel believes the Premier League brings the best out of coaches and players, and he expects it to do the same for him as he pits his wits against the best managers in the world.
Tuchel says he likes what he sees from Mount so far: 'His personality is amazing and he is such a competitive guy. He leaves his heart on the pitch and he cares for Chelsea 100 per cent. This is the best basis for big development.'
On Billy Gilmour, Tuchel says he is a 'strategic guy with a high level of understanding, and super quick with his feet and decision making'. He sees no reason for anyone in the squad to leave this month.
That's all from Thomas Tuchel's first media conference at Cobham. There will be plenty more from a fascinating press conference on our website and the 5th Stand app soon. Thanks for following.
Frank Lampard will speak to the media via video link at 1.30pm today! π¨βπ»
The boss is here and starts with some injury news: 'Billy Gilmour has had an operation on his knee this morning and we estimate he'll be out for somewhere between three and four months unfortunately. We're all disappointed but I've spoken to him and he's a tough lad.'
Lampard responds to some reports about Tammy Abraham's contract situation by saying the striker is not at a critical stage in his deal and needs to focus on playing in these last few weeks of the season. He doesn't want to get into contract clauses.
Lampard starts with an injury update ahead of Palace: 'Kante won't be in the squad - he has a low-level hamstring injury so it will be a week or so hopefully.' Kovacic trained today but will also be unavailable tomorrow, as will Tomori.
Frank believes Manchester United are the biggest threat from behind us in the table as they have plenty of quality individual players and are gaining momentum. However, he states our emphasis remains on us and our performances.
Frank Lampard has arrived for his #CHELEI press conference...
Frank: 'There were good parts of the Man United game that got lost in the result but not lost on me. Against Liverpool, we played one of the top teams in the world and really matched them.'
Lampard says Sunday's game against Leicester is a big game for us in front of our own fans. He warns that Brendan Rodgers has a good mix of experienced and young players so will be a tough opponent.
Sarri starts with a message to his players: 'Iβm extremely angry, very angry indeed. This defeat was due to our mentality. I canβt accept it. We had a similar issue against Tottenham in the league. It appears this group of players are extremely difficult to motivate.' #ARSCHE
Sarri: 'From a technical point of view both teams were on the same sort of level, but they had a higher level of determination in both penalty areas, so tactics donβt come into it. I canβt possibly say I am not partly responsible for the defeat. We have to share it.' #ARSCHE
