Banning energy leasing on federal lands would be catastrophic for western states that are already reeling from the decline in energy usage brought on by the pandemic and continued volatility in energy markets.
It’s a one-two punch that means disaster for energy jobs, families and communities. That’s why I authored a bill prohibiting any bans on federal leasing without the consent of Congress.
50% of oil and nearly all natural gas production occurs on federal land in WY. Our schools, roads, hospitals and other critical government services and infrastructure rely on the tax revenue generated by energy resources.
Banning energy leasing on fed lands will destroy western economies and force us to rely on foreign countries for our energy needs. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to vote in favor of American energy independence.
