Making stuff. A thread to keep track and see how stuff evolves. The very first one - “classic” skull in pewter and plain black 550. Now living with @dcuthbert 1/n. Image
#2 - a Spartan Blades “beret” skull in camouflage’esque 550. Currently homeless, though I have someone in mind... 2/n. Image
#3. My first experiment in using two different colour cords, melted together. “Emerson” pewter skull. Cheap Chinese paracord - thinner than the American stuff. Still on the small side... 3/n ImageImage
#4. Pink and purple 550 cord (as per request), with a Rose Skull Bead in 2-Tone Antique Gold/A.Rhodium. Starting to make the upper body wider and increase size slightly. Now living with @malwareowl. 4/n. Image
#5. Bright! ;-p @TimmehWimmy’s “no way you can lose this” day glo yellow and green keyring with a “cyber” skull in oxidised Roman brass. First of the big boys... ;-) 5/n. Image
#6. Another pink and purple rose skull, this time in pewter. Short loop for attaching to keys. Awesome trade with @kieczkowska for a cyber @botvinkastudio face mask! 😷 6/n. Image
#7 Absolute tank of a keyring for @YoSignals. Love the “mind” skull, though the coarse glow in the dark paracord literally gave me 🪢🔥. 7/n. ImageImage
#8. JBaW! 😝 @_mormaid’s peculiarly named (#7 was Jack) brass “cyber” skull and plain black cord lanyard. Think I’m getting the melted ends a lot neater now. 8/n. #JägerBombsandWhisky! ImageImage
#9. Purple cord stocks getting low! 😝 @ZephrFish’s “grin” in pewter and purple/glow in the dark tracer, decimating my purple supplies and hardening my delicate hands further. 😝🪢🔥 9/n. #needsaname ImageImage
#10. Another dark one, but at least this cord is softer than the tracer cord! 😝 Pewter “cyber” skull and plain black 550 for @SPCoulson. Probably the neatest yet. #practicemakesperfect 10/n. Image
#11. Nice high contrast - finally someone wanted bright colours! Slightly messy melted ends due to drinking a couple of cans of Stella during construction. 😝Pirate themed - I wonder who it could possibly be for? (spoiler alert, it’s @DeathsPirate new car key buddy). 11/n. ImageImageImage
#12. Wasn’t sure how the big horns on this chap were going to get in the way. But no bother at all. Another nice high contrast piece, with much neater melted ends (beer is wearing off 😝). Came out well, very happy with that. Off to @DanHatesNumbers shortly... 12/n. ImageImage
Unlucky #13. Another mini demon 💀 keyring, this time slightly more understated in purple and urban camouflage. Sticking with his more brightly coloured sibling and heading off to live with the insanely generous @DanHatesNumbers (a lovely, lovely man ❤️). 13/n. #cheeredmerightup ImageImageImage
#14. Another high contrast demon headed mummy, this time a small lanyard style one for a colleague at work. Slightly messy shoulder melting, which I’ll blame on the cider I was drinking at the time (and my usual lack of patience). 14/n. Image
#15. Experiment time. Trying to weave in some blue micro cord (messily). Also completely different torso colour than legs. Needs some refining, but it’s a start. Gave up on nano cord in the torso - just kept vanishing under the regular cord. Back to the drawing board... 15/n. ImageImageImageImage
#16. After a minor misunderstanding about the word lanyard”, I said I’d make a friend one for his neck he could hang his work badge on. Vastly more work than I first thought - I think there are more knots in this than all the others added together. Happy but tired. 16/n. ImageImageImage
#17. Large @SchmuckatelliCo Emerson bead keyring in mixed camouflage ungutted paracord. It’s huge! 😝 Made a bit of a mess of the ends. Working with ungutted cord is weird - knots don’t hold as well. But I’m certainly not going to lose anything connected to it... 🤣 17/n. Image
#18. Small black/purple mummy with pewter @SchmuckatelliCo classic 💀 bead. Once again, the knotting is good, but my end melting leaves a little bit to be desired. Need to go back to using a hot lighter to press the ends rather than a cold metal tool. Off to @MadcapOcelot. 18/n. Image
#19 (red and black) and #20 (yellow and black). Ended up sort of medium-sized rather than small, since the thicker cord looks weird if you make them too small. Happy with the melted ends on #20 - the neatest I’ve done yet, just hope they hold ok. Headed to @ZilberbergDavid 19/n. ImageImageImage
#21 & #22 - by special request. Sterling silver with black cubic zirconia owl beads. Smaller than what I’m used to using, and the horizontal holes were a bit weird to work with for the initial knots, hence the quizzical head tilt. Could have used thinner paracord... #heyho 20/n. ImageImage
#23. Back to the usual skull/mummy style, though with a blend of the thicker American (white) and thinner Chinese (black/blue) paracord. Really like the high contrast between the colours. This one will be heading off to @hvcco just as soon as I can get to the post office... 21/n. Image
#24/#25 - the terrible twosome/terrible twins. Kinda apt now they’re living with @JonnyUcof and @tsiolkovsky ! 😝 #loveyouguys Clearly I’ve lost the knack of getting neat/tidy ends/joins in the break I had from making them. Need to get back on it and practice more... 22/n. Image
#26/#27. Not made any of these in *ages*. Should do more. First use of a dark “ninja” bead with nice bright cord. Then a much darker one, which I think is black and very dark green, but being green colour blind, just looks like black and slightly less black to my eyes. 😝 23/n. ImageImage
