@NAkufoAddo's address this evening was a bit of head-scratcher. If the spread of the virus in π¬π is as dire as he represented, so much so that hospitals and ICU's are full then:
- Why has he not outrightly banned conferences and workshops? 1/
- Why is he not instructing religious activities 2 move online as they were in March of last year when case numbers and deaths were even significantly lower?
- Why is he allowing Kotoka to remain open seeing as the πΏπ¦an variant now spreading in π¬π was introduced via travel 2/
- Why is he is not, at the very least, suspending travel from countries where the variants are known to be spreading in order to better protect the π¬π public and contain the spread? #JoySMS 3/
- With infections rising amongst children, why on God's green earth are schools still open? Given especially, the lasting organ damage that Covid can cause and the fact that children can become vectors of transmission between households. #JoySMS 4/
The one thing that all compete govt's across the world have learned since the start of the pandemic is that you've got to get ahead of this virus in order to control. You've got to take the hard decisions to stop ot from spreading in the first place. 5/ #JoySMS
Postponing the tough decisions which need to be made in order to save lives and protect the health system from collapse does nothing to improve the situation. The measures announced by @NAkufoAddo simply do not go far enough and will do little to slow the virus. 6/ #JoySMS
It is abundantly clear that π¬π needs some form of lockdown to control the surge of the virus and save lives. In the absence of a vaccine it is the only way to get the virus under control, save lives and prevent the health system from being overwhelmed. END #JoySMS
