@kroger 2. @Kroger has been enjoying record profits: $2.9 BILLION over the first 3 quarters of 2020. That's $1.2 BILLION IN EXTRA PROFITS compared to the first 3 quarters of 2019.

3. In September, @Kroger announced it would spend $1 billion in stock buybacks. This will increase the stock price in the short term, increasing compensation for corporate executive that are paid in stock grants and options.

4. On Friday, @Kroger announced a new 18 cents/share dividend, which will transfer about $147 million to investors (and also enhance its stock price).

Meanwhile, workers who are putting their lives at risk get nothing.

Long Beach City passed an ordinance requiring large grocery stores to pay workers a bonus of $4/hour for 120 days

The legislation is pitched as an effort to protect free speech but actually violates the First Amendment. The government can't force companies to print political speech. Forced speech is just as much of a free speech violation of preventing speech.

1. GOP Senators have embraced the idea that convicting Trump is unconstitutional because he's not president.

It's at the center of the document filed by Trump's lawyers yesterday.

And it's worth going through in detail.

2. The argument from Trump's lawyers hinges on this language from the Constitution: "[j]udgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor…"

3. Trump's lawyers argue that the key word is AND.

They argue that because the constitution says punishments are limited to removal AND disqualification it means you have to be removed before you can be disqualified

They call it a "condition precedent"
