White nationalist Douglass Mackey, the social media influencer better known by his meme-war nom de guerre Ricky Vaughn, has an arraignment this morning on 2016 election interference allegations.

Thread to come.

Background, via @LambeJerry lawandcrime.com/high-profile/t…
Mackey waives his physical presence because of COVID-19 restrictions to the courthouse.

United States Magistrate Judge Roanne L. Mann Mirandizes him and reads his charges.
Mackey is represented by prominent defense attorney Tor Ekeland, known for his computer-related cases.
Judge Mann says there's been an agreed-upon bond.

She says that she's adding to terms of it, including mental health counseling.

Defense has no objection.
Mackey is subject to random visits by Pre-Trial Services officers in his home and workplace, and he must comply with his mental health counseling.

Asked if he understands that, Mackey replies: "Yes, your honor."

"This is a $50,000 personal recognizance bond," Judge Mann says.
That's the end of the hearing.

There was no plea today because the charges unsealed by the government were a criminal complaint, not a grand jury indictment.

Ordered released on bond, with travel restrictions.

Package agreed upon by prosecution and defense.

Story soon.

At a Zoom press conference right now, @MassAGO Maura Healey notes the "turbocharging" language is McKinsey's own word in relation to sales. She says the settlement eclipses the money they made on the contract.
Healey notes McKinsey is a "big deal," given their clout in the government and private sector.

Other AGs on the line:

Colorado's top prosecutor Phil Weiser up now.
Weiser:

When others said maybe we should slow down the push for these deadly drugs, McKinsey didn't.

And when the probe heated up, the firm's partners deleted docs.

"These partners acted reprehensibly."

McKinsey says the partners were terminated.

Lin Wood's lawyer conceded in court that his client was in an "emotional tailspin" in February and March 2020, roughly a year ago.

His ex-partners claim he threatened to take his own life, assaulted them, and was abusive in taped calls.

From my podcast: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/obj…
This is an attorney for Lin Wood's former law partners during a hearing on Sept. 23, 2020, in a transcript.
Lin Wood's counsel R. Joseph Burby attributed his client's "emotional tailspin" to the toll of the turmoil in his firm and his ex-partners telling his children he was having mental health issues.

Wood claims he felt they were trying to drive a wedge with his family.
