Well, we’ve just joined the horror of the #EWS1 life. 9 months after accepting an offer our buyer lost his mortgage today, two weeks from completion. We’ve lost our dream home & another family lost theirs. £3k spent for absolutely nothing. #EndOurCladdingScandal
Told by our management company that we had ‘nothing to worry about’. No cladding on building. Freeholder then arranged #EWS1 half way through process of our sale (with costs passed to leaseholders), which then came back with a B2 rating due to the insulation used behind render.
Despite the fact there were no interim measures required, as the building achieved a safety standard that limited the spread of fire, we still received a B2 rating which now means all 112 apartments in our building are deemed ‘unmortgageable’ #EndOurCladdingScandal
To add to the absolute farce that the #EWS1 situation is; the buyers lender deemed that an EWS1 was not required back in September. In their email confirming withdrawal they note that our building will likely not fall under the EWS1 criteria once the expected RICS (1/2)
consultation results are announced in the spring. Yet our chain has collapsed & THOUSANDS of ££ thrown down the drain. This will be happening to hundreds of chains & will have disastrous consequences for the market. Sort out this utter mess! @Conservatives@UKLabour@LibDems
The building in question is in Liverpool city Centre... We were looking to start a family this year and are now trapped in an ‘un-mortgageable’ property. Please help @KimJohnsonMP@lpoolcouncil@LiverpoolLabour
