(thread) #FRIDAYFEELS are strong today with this story! Grace came to the U.S. from Nigeria when she was 10. She had lived here for 15 years, when she was detained by ICE in 2019. She spent almost 2 years in a detention center until she was finally released last month.
Miles4Migrants, in partnership with @ImmFamTogether, used 7,000 pledged frequent flyer miles to fly Grace to her adopted mom, grandmother and sister, for an emotional curbside reunion at a Florida airport.
Grace shared with us...
“It felt so good to see my mom and grandma and sister after so many years of being gone. It felt good to be around family, people that I love so much and care about. I have been dreaming about this day for so many years that it finally came true.”
A friend of Grace’s also shared, “I am so glad that you guys were able to help Grace reunite with her family. I knew Grace in the ICE facility, and we spend 3 months there until I left in June of 2019. After that, we were in contact through the phone and video visits....”
“I am from Suriname, and until this day, Grace and I are still friends. I call her everyday and encourage her to stay strong and be the best mom, daughter, and sister ever. Thank you and keep up the GOOD JOB. God bless.”

(thread) This 5 year old, Arsh, was reunited w/ his parents on Christmas Day! // Ellmarjan, Arsh’s father, worked for 4 years as a translator for the American army. At one point, the Taliban asked him to leak information, but he refused & told them he’d never cooperate w/ them.
(cont.) After he & his family were harassed several times by the Taliban, Ellmarjan decided to leave the role for his family’s safety. He went back to school & tarted his own pharmacy in Kabul. Again, the Taliban asked for his collaboration, & again, Ellmarjan held his ground.
(cont.) In retaliation, the Taliban threw a hand grenade into the pharmacy. Ellmarjan was severly wounded and stayed for half a year in the hospital. For security reasons, they had to close the pharmacy and move his family to a new city.
