The Democrat Party in US devises its India strategy based on the inputs it gets from global left units in India, which would be the Lutyens media. Why it gets India wrong each time and underachieves on its objectives vis a vis India. A short thread+
It’s no secret that President Obama + Secretary Hillary did not want Modi to become India’s PM. They continued the Bush era sanctions on Modi wrt visiting US and other interventions hoping that those would undermine Modi’s image in India. The outcome was the opposite.
The US sanctions on Modi actually boosted his image in India, or at the least did nothing 2 weaken him. Modi won the PM chair of world’s most populous democracy with a record mandate in 2014. While he was on US no visa list. This was a clear embarrassment for US foreign policy.
President Obama swiftly called to congratulate Modi and invited him to visit US. Modi being Modi, that is, nurturing an immense hunger for international plaudits was only too happy to accept and almost take the first plane to US to meet his best friend Barak.
Do note that Modi is no Indira. Indira was a child of privilege, spent large parts of her girlhood in Europe, was fluent in English & French. A side effect of that whatever else she was, she did not hanker for approval from US or Europe. How she retaliated 2 Nixon is well known.
Anyway, given Modi’s persona, Obama could easily make amends for earlier foreign policy miscalculation. Then in 2016 Trump won and US foreign policy towards India changed in that the Trump administration was not clued into Lutyens of India.
With another Democrat regime back in helm in US in 2021, US foreign policy on India is again being based on Lutyens input. Lutyens still does not want Modi as Indian CM. They would want to strengthen any public agitation against Modi.
The farmer agitation is a golden opportunity to destabilize Modi regime as Lutyens sees it. And Lutyens thinks that intervention of international celebrities would undermine Modi in India and strengthen the farmers’ agitation. They are spectacularly wrong yet again.
Its inconceivable that Meena Harris is tweeting so gleefully on farmers’ agitation without even tacit approval of her VP aunt and therefore the highest echelon of Biden-Harris regime. Meena Harris’ claim to fame is her lineage of which she is gaining financially (books etc).
So, in other words the current regime in US believes that the intervention by international celebrities including Meena Harris would weaken Modi in India and generate sympathy for the farmer agitation in India. How wrong can they be!

Unwittingly yet again the Lutyens and the current US regime is strengthening Modi. The result of disjunct from local soil.
