@vickitabhatt@DrsDefundPolice@SURJto exactly: "Not a Second Longer" campaign in the last provincial election focused on wait times "while
drawing attention to poor government decisions" along with " In Sickness and in Health" campaign earlier were OMA's big market pushes leading up to the election of Ford
@vickitabhatt@DrsDefundPolice@SURJto The Board at the time: Allan O’Dette, CEO; Dr. Shawn Whatley, OMA President; Dr. Nadia Alam, OMA President Elect Dr. Timothy Nicholas, Chair, OMA Board of Directors;
@vickitabhatt@DrsDefundPolice@SURJto The OMA had been at the time without a contract with the Province for over three years... seems that the current crop of leadership within the OMA was very cozy with the Conservatives and openly anti-Liberal. Curious if they directly worked to get Cons elected (rather than NDP).

UW is the only major university within Canada to not have a union for working students. If the anti-labour/ pro-capital forces within our employer's admin offer us more $, we must hold out for that amount AND a union!
Why do I urge my fellow employees to look beyond wage offers in favour of demands for union? Students at UW earn approximately 25-35% less per hour and work 12-25% more hours per course. More work per funding dollar means less time for research and study. #UnionsMakeADifference
UWaterloo is the only school in ON, and one of very few in CA, where graduate TAs have no union. By voting to bargain collectively for their wages and working conditions, TAs at other schools have secured fair wages and lower hours, freeing up time to focus on their studies.
folks think getting @cafreeland as a PM would be like having NZ's @jacindaardern for a PM. Don't fall for this crap, folks. Freeland is a neoliberal, not a progressive. Aardern is a social democrat and a progressive who leads a coalition of her Labour Party, Greens, NZ First.
The Labour–NZ First-Green Government has focused on the New Zealand housing crisis, child poverty, and social inequality. In March 2019, she led the country through the aftermath of the Christchurch mosque shootings, rapidly introducing strict gun laws in response.
Freeland is one of those people whose very privileged life means that she has some enormous blind spots, made worse by her focus on economic systems issues (business) and not socioecological systems issues. She bought the myth of free trade: rabble.ca/columnists/201…
