DEMS’ TRIAL STRATEGY: The nine House impeachment managers plan to avoid any long or abstract legal analysis in favor of efforts to tell the “gripping and spellbinding story” of how Trump incited the deadly insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“The case for the president’s guilt is overwhelming and the evidence is devastating,” one impeachment manager says. “We’re going to tell America the gripping and spellbinding story of what happened on Jan. 6.”
The nine House prosecutors plan to use video in this week's Senate trial. LOTS OF IT.
Unclear, however, if they will have access to previously unseen surveillance video from the dozens of security cameras in the Capitol or will only us footage in the public domain.
LIVE BLOG: Dem impeachment managers say they will use never seen video evidence from Jan. 6 attack to make case against Trump thehill.com/homenews/senat…
From the start, Dem prosecutors are letting the videos from Jan. 6 attack make the case for Trump’s conviction.
This is their strategy
Here's the dramatic video of 1/6 attack the impeachment managers showed the senators as they kicked off the Trump trial

.@RepJoeNeguse to senators: "Like every one of you, I was in the Capitol on Jan. 6 ... like every one of you, I was evacuated as this violent mob stormed the Capitol's gates.
"What u experienced that day ... is the framers' worst nightmare come to life"
.@RepCicilline asks how can Trump defense say we need to move on?
"William Faulker famously wrote that the past is never dead, but this isn't even the past. This just happened; it's still happening."
Cicilline points out that Nat Guard/fencing still protect Capitol today
Who is Jamie Raskin, the lead impeachment manager?
.@RepRaskin tells senators the personal story of how he was there in Capitol on 1/6 with his daughter Tabitha and her fiance, one day after he buried his son Tommy who had taken his life on New Years Eve
Raskin says during the attack lawmakers were calling their spouses to say goodbye.
They were removing their congressional pins so the mob wouldn't know they were lawmakers
Staffers were sending texts to loved ones saying, "I love you"
Raskin was separated from his daughter Tabitha and her fiance that day, and he thought he might lose another child.
When he was reunited, he apologized to her and said it won't be like this for her next visit.
She replied: "Dad I don't want to come back to the Capitol"
Raskin said that was the hardest part of the day hearing his daughter say she never wanted to come back to the Capitol.
That and seeing one of the rioters pummel a Capitol Police officer with an American flag pole
Jamie Raskin Lost His Son. Then He Fled a Mob.

I spoke to a lot of people who were there as the Capitol was attacked on Jan. 6: lawmakers, staffers, police officers, reporters.
We all felt the same thing: terror, disbelief and a personal sense of violation. Here's what I wrote about that day thehill.com/homenews/house…
"Each of us has an important role in the building; each of us treats the Capitol, a living museum and monument to American history, with respect and reverence, as we would our own homes.
That’s why the deadly assault feels particularly personal to many of us."
Bruce Castor, Trump's defense attorney, calls it an "outstanding presentation" from Raskin and says everyone from defense team denounces actions of rioters.
"The attack is repugnant in every sense of the word, the loss of life is horrific."
Trump defense team now showing their own video montage of House Dems saying over and over (from 2017-19) that Trump needs to be impeached.
Schoen says Ds have "insatiable lust" to impeach Trump
After Schoen wraps, Raskin says they yield their 33 minutes of rebuttal back to the Senate.
Everyone happy with that I'm sure
Senate now voting yet again whether Trump impeachment trial is constitutional.
Last month, just five Republicans voted to reject a resolution saying the trial was unconstitutional
CASSIDY (R-La.) votes that the Senate trial is constitutional; he previously voted that it was unconstitutional
"We'll be using footage never seen before that shows a view of the Capitol that is quite extraordinary, and a view of the attack that has never been public before," says a senior aide on House impeach managers' team
Unclear if Dem impeachment managers have access to body cams from DC Metro Police, who were assisting on 1/6.
Capitol Police don't have body cams but some officers, I'm told, used their personal iPhones to record the rioters attacking them.

NEW: MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE @RepMTG is increasingly becoming a liability for her GOP colleagues due to a string of controversies that have thrown the conference off message and led to repudiations by Republican leaders.
.@RepJahanaHayes, fmr Nat'l Teach of Year, is circulating letter calling on @GOPLeader to boot @mtgreenee off the Education Committee after she supported false conspiracy theory claiming Sandy Hook mass shooting was a hoax.
Hayes reps Sandy Hook and Newtown.
The internet sleuths are just getting started digging into @mtgreenee's digital trail. Today, @mmfa revealed MTG penned a 2018 FB post espousing a wild and false conspiracy theory that deadly wildfires in CA, McCarthy's home state, had been caused by a laser from space.

Approps Chair @rosadelauro on today's hearing on the 1/6 Capitol attack:
"[T]here is the disturbing matter of how the law enforcement response to peaceful Black Lives Matter protests was so much more stringent than the response to this dangerous threat."
After today’s closed-door hearing on 1/6 attack, Rep. @RodneyDavis, top R on House Admin, calls for public hearings on the Capitol insurrection:
“Closed-door briefing with selectively leaked information is not the next step in addressing this issue”
