McNeil is still premier, so he's on the briefing today. I think Strang ought to do it solo except when there is some policy change announcement, but no one listens to me.
While I have your attention, I think new Premier Iain Rankin could do a few easy things to get public trust: fix the lobbyist registry system, increase transparency in various places, and start the damn briefings on time.
On my other channel, I'm watching the impeachment trial.
We're about to start.
McNeil repeats today's numbers.
McNeil: now people coming to NS from NL must quarantine for 14 days.
McNeil: we expect a shipment of vaccine this week and a larger one next week.
Strang: the last time we had a case that wasn't travel-related was Jan. 24, 2 weeks ago.
Strang: Newfoundland had 30 cases today, so we're imposing the quarantine requirement for people coming from that province.
Strang: this is a reminder of how quickly things can change.
Strang give vaccine numbers.
Strang: this week we'll get 1,950 doses of Pfizer vaccine, and next week we'll get our biggest shipment yet, 8,775 doses.
Strang: the prototype community clinic will be set up at the IWK soon. 1,000 doses have been set aside, so that's for 500 people. It is for people over 80, by invite only — you'll receive a letter asking you to come in.
Strang: the letter is not transferable.
Strang: we'll start 4 pharmacy based community clinics in early March. It's still in the planning stage.
Strang: there have been no changes to our mask requirements.
Strang: there is confusion about people who are self-isolating: they ARE permitted to leave their home for an hour a day, for a walk or a run, but they can't get within 6 feet of anyone else or go inside any place.
Strang: wash your hand, etc, etc.
Strang: we'll have another update on Friday.
Strang: we've been trying to get 6 doses out of each vial delivered, and we've gotten that about 50% of the time. We anticipate we'll increase it next week.
Strang: so that delivery next week of 8,775 doses turns into just over 10,000 doses. We'll get a bit more than we expected.
Strang: we're looking to start testing at the airport. We're meeting about it.
McNeil: I'm in charge here.
Strang: one of the St. John's outbreaks started with a high school volleyball tournament. That's why we're not allowing tournaments here.
The briefing is over.

BREAKING: New details emerge about the night of April 18 in Portapique /thread
Lisa Banfield told police that that evening was her and GW's 19th anniversary. They had drinks and FaceTimed friends in Houlton, Maine, a couple.
Lisa and GW told the couple in Maine that for their 20th anniversary, they were going to have a "commitment ceremony." The woman in Maine said "don't do it." That upset Lisa, and she said "I'm leaving." That in turn upset GW.
