Biden WH now backtracking from original pledge to have most schools open within 100 days.
(thread)
2/ In December, Biden said “If Congress provides the funding... if states and cities put strong public health measures in place that we all follow, then my team will work to see that a majority of our schools can be open by the end of my first 100 days."
3/ Yesterday, @PressSec Psaki said the goal is now "to have the majority of schools — so, more than 50% — open by day 100 of his presidency. And that means some teaching in classrooms. So, at least one day a week. Hopefully, it’s more."
4/ Again, there is conflict between the health officials and the teachers' unions, and I have seen no evidence the Biden White House is willing to say or do anything to side with health officials when they are in conflict.
2/ The 5th told me it's possible others were offended since they had experienced the assault and didn't need to be reminded of how horrible it was, though this senator was not offended...
3/ The 6th addressed the other part of Graham's criticism from Hannity: "The legal theory they have is absurd – that somehow that Trump’s a secret member of the Proud Boys." ...
My guess in all seriousness is that he normally wears a yarmulke and this was reflex. Schoen is modern Orthodox so that would make sense. But I defer to @jacobkornbluh
@jacobkornbluh 2/ Another possibility is that he uses his hand to cover his head when he drinks for the same reason people wear yarmulkes. (See here an "Ask the rabbi" that suggests such creative solutions"
"In these past three weeks, I felt like it was important to give a window of opportunity, right? Maybe in some world, Senators Josh Hawley, or Senator Ted Cruz, or Representative Mo Brooks, would say:
2/ "...'You know what? I was mistaken. I did not fully realize what the impact of my actions was going to be. And now in retrospect, I see that it incited something that I never wanted to incite. And for that, I am sorry.'
3/ "...But no. They've had almost a month. And they haven't said that. They have doubled down.
"And they said: 'I did the right thing. And if I could go back, I would do it all over again.'...

2/ Among the four men is British national, Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh who had previously been on death row due to his alleged involvement Pearl’s murder. The men were moved in the early hours to a newly built guest house facility within the confines of Karachi Central Jail.
3/ This is the first time since 2002 that the four men have been moved from their jail cells. The men will remain in government custody.
However, they will be allowed visitation from their family members between 8am and 5pm local time, daily.
Yesterday the WH @PressSec was asked about the CDC director’s assertion that teachers do not need to be vaccinated before schools open safely. 1/ whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…
2/ @CDCDirector@RWalensky said: “Vaccinations of teachers is not a prerequisite for safely reopening schools.”
Health officials have been saying for months that — with mitigation efforts in place — schools need to reopen in person classes as much as possible.
3/ Dr. Walensky said this at an official press briefing:
