Just emerged from the Senate Chamber where I watched the reaction as the video presentation began. Every Senator was watching with rapt attention. At one point Senators Bennett & Warner stood up from their seats to get a better view of the screens.
Watched for another more than hour and it was unbelievable how close the Senators in the room paid attention to each part of the presentation. In many cases they seemed to be in stunned silence as the presentation played out.
At one point- When the video played of a rioter ending his remarks by yelling “Peace out” into the camera- Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) shook his head in disgust.
Democratic Senators audibly groaned, when video played of the rioter who gained access to Speaker Pelosi’s office and put his feet on her desk and then bragged about it after.
As video played of the mob gaining access to chamber played- showing how close they were to some of the very Senators in the room, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) seemed visibly upset. She watched with her hand pressed against her forehead for several minutes.
As Rep. Swalwell made note of the effort made by the Capitol Police to form a human wall to prevent the rioters from breaching the chamber with Senators inside, Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) quietly clapped her hands in a show of approval.
When Rep. Swalell made note of just how serious the threat was, and asked what could have happened if Capitol Police had not prevented the rioters from getting into the Chamber before members were evacuated, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) nodded his head in agreement.
Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also nodded his head in agreement when Swalwell played the video of his evacuation- and demonstrated how close rioters were to discovering him and his security detail as he evacuated.
Schumer later went to find the network pool camera to thank his security detail for their efforts to keep him safe that day.
After the testimony concluded for a dinner break, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) came up to impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and held his elbow and patted his back in what appeared to be an intimate conversation.

Dramatic moment on the House Floor- Majority Leader Steny Hoyer walked a giant picture of a @RepMTG tweet across the House floor. The tweet features an AR-15 and members of the so called “Squad”.
The tweet read:

“AR-15- the squad’s worst nightmare.”

Hoyer said: “They are not the squad- they are Ilhan, they are Alexandria, they are Rashida. They are our colleagues.”
More from Hoyer-
“No member ought to be permitted to engage in the kind of behavior that Rep. Greene has and face zero consequences.”

RIGHT NOW: On the floor of the House @RepMTG is defending herself as the Congress begins the process of removing her from committees.
Greene said that most of the Democratic members have not met her or taken the time to talk to her. Instead they have gotten their impression of her from Media Matters, CNN and other "mainstream media" outlets.
Greene says that when she learned that some of the conspiracy theories that she had leaned into and supported were not true- she “walked away” from them.

NEW: US Capitol Police banned building tours and access to Capitol on day of riot after Democrats raised security concerns. w/ @AnnieGrayerCNN & @DanaBashCNN
cnn.com/2021/01/15/pol…
The memo reiterated guidance from the spring when Cap Police banned tours, which some members of Congress were ignoring. It also locked down access to the Capitol itself to only people with offices there.
Republicans argue Democrats (who've accused GOP Members of conducting reconnaissance missions ahead of the riots) are overstating the guidance. They point out Dems have offered no specific evidence that GOP members were helping the rioters.

RIGHT NOW-> Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, who has bragged about her desire to carry a weapon on Capital Hill is currently in a standoff with Capitol Police at the newly installed Metal Detectors outside the chamber doors.
Boebert walked through with her bag which set off the mags. She refused to offer the bag over to be searched and is now in a standoff with Cap Police.
Capitol Police won’t let her in until Boebert shows them what is in her bag, she won’t and is now standing by the entrance of the chamber. She is respectful but defiant.

Here is the setting for today’s drive-in car rally w/ ⁦@KamalaHarris⁩ in support of Jon @Ossoff & ⁦@ReverendWarnock⁩.
This event was supposed to be at 5pm but was moved up to Noon so that Harris can get back to Washington to vote on the Covid-relief package. #gasen
This is my first “drive-in” rally. It is very unique and requires a different level of logistics planning. Planning that is heightened because of the Secret Service protection of VP-Elect Harris.
The VPE Harris motorcade just arrived. “Sound On” for the full drive-in rally experience. #honk

The AJC's great reporter Greg @Bluestein presses @KLoeffler twice on wether the November election was "rigged". She refuses to answer directly- but pivots to stay that there are "issues" that need to be looked into.
Asked pointed questions about his remarks about police and the military from the pulpit of his church, @ReverendWarnock promises that he will be an ally of law enforcement and work to bridge gaps between police and the community.
