Do you really need a cover letter when you apply for jobs? You might wonder whether you can get by with just a CV, particularly if the company doesn't specifically request or require a cover letter.
How to write it if a company requires it.

@REV_GIFT
It's only natural to wonder if a cover letter is necessary. After all, writing cover letters can be a time-consuming and challenging task. If there's an option to skip the labor involved in writing one, it's tempting. It can also be a highrisk not to write it though.
In most cases, and particularly when the overall job market or your specific industry is competitive, a cover letter will help your candidacy. Done right, your letter will highlight your most relevant skills and qualifications for the job, making you stand out than the rest.
Your cover letter is particularly important. It's your opportunity to help the potential employer see that your skills and experience matches the position, and particularly when the overall job market or your specific industry is competitive.
Here are the basic steps you can follow to create the perfect cover letter:
1. Use a consistent structure
2. Address the cover letter to a specific person
3. State why you are writing
4. Emphasize your skills and accomplishments
5. Reiterate your enthusiasm
1. Consistent Structure

Visual consistency is essential for a cover letter. Your letter should fit onto one page and use the same font and font size throughout the body.
Use a simple, easy-to-read font like Arial, Helvetica or Calibri. Your font size should be between 10 and 12 points, and you should have a one-inch margin on all sides of the page.
2. Adress it to a specific person

The perfect cover letter always addresses a specific person. This could be the head of the department or a hiring manager. If the contact isn't provided with the job description, look at the company's website or on social networks.
If you've tried those paths and still haven't found anything, consider calling and asking who the hiring manager is for the role or adress it to the hiring manager.
3 State why you are writing.

The opening of your letter should be simple and straightforward, stating the position for which you're applying for and possibly how you found the listing.
Example

Dear Mr Keys
I am writing to apply for the programmer position advertised in the Sunday times. As requested, I enclose a completed job application, my certification, my resume, and three references.
4. Emphasize your Capabilites

The perfect cover letter is an extension of your resume, one that focuses on the skills and abilities that are relevant to the position for which you're applying. Write with confidence and emphasize your accomplishments from past positions.
Keep in mind as you write that this letter is also an opportunity for the employer to evaluate your writing skills, make your grammar and spelling are correct.
Example:

The role is very appealing to me, and I believe that my strong technical experience and education make me a highly competitive candidate for this position. My key strengths that would support my success in this position include...
I have successfully designed, developed, and supported live-use applications.
I strive continually for excellence.
I provide exceptional contributions to customer service for all customers. I even got awarded an employee of the month award for dedication...
Have a degree in Computer Programming, I have a comprehensive understanding of the full lifecycle for software development projects. I also have experience in learning and applying new technologies as appropriate. Please see my resume for additional information on my experience.
5. Reiterate your enthusiasm

Close the letter by reiterating your enthusiasm and thanking the hiring manager for their consideration. Include that you look forward to hearing from them.
Because most cover letters are sent electronically, it's acceptable to type your name at the bottom. If you are printing it and mailing or hand-delivering it, leave space to sign the letter by hand above your typed name.

*NB*
Always follow the instructions of the recruiter, if you are required to attach your cover letter with your CV attach it in a Pdf file preferably.
Sometimes you might be required to write an Email cover instead of attaching a cover letter.

GOOD LUCK

As promised, tips on getting your CV pass the ATS (Applicant tracking system) to the hiring manager.

(Thread)
Applicant tracking systems are software that automate the hiring process. They screen resumes and candidates automatically, making the assessment of new candidates faster and more efficient.
That means scanning resumes for important keywords and qualifications.
The general goal of ATS is to narrow the applicant pool so that hiring managers can meet the "best" applicants based on a predetermined set of criteria.
