Several GOP lawmakers weren't sitting. I didn't see Graham, Moran, or Barasso the whole hour. At one point, Whitehouse took a page out of Hawley's book and went to the visitors gallery. He sat there for about five minutes in the front row, leaning his elbows on the rail casually.
The mood was very restless. Several senators were standing and chatting at any given moment. I could also hear chatter whenever the cloakroom doors opened. Hawley and Blunt had an extended conversation towards the end of the hour, Blunt sitting in Scott's (FL) chair.
The only bipartisan convo I saw was when Schatz came over to Sasse and chatted with him for a bit. He then returned to the Democratic side and chatted with Tester and then Booker.
Cruz has a habit of stroking his mask like it's a wizard's beard. Towards the end of the hour, Cotton and Ernst had a chat and Ernst laughed. Burr sat in Scott's (SC) chair and sat chatting with Portman for a while. On the other side, Booker sat next to Gillibrand for a while.
The only time I saw McConnell move was when he looked at a paper held out by his aide - the posture remained the same, with only the head tilted.
MILKWATCH: Romney was drinking chocolate milk. He finished it at around 5:45. He looked up at me when he finished it, noticing me staring intently at his milk consumption, and I think it was a bit embarrassing for us both.
