One month since the attack and I’m still learning harrowing details about the day. So much has happened since and the news moves so fast, it’s been difficult to focus on it.

Conversations with others who were there have often felt like another 9/11 “Where were you?” moment.

Staffers I haven’t seen since recalling how they barricaded themselves in offices in terror. Members telling me how they followed my feed on their phone while in the chamber in disbelief. Reporters still trying to make sense of it all. All of us still coping.

This is a bit weird to say, but reading the horror others experienced simply *hearing* the mob storm the building and pound on doors, especially inside the House chamber, I can't help but feel a bit lucky I was stuck outside.

Exiting WH, Susan Collins calls 2 hour meeting with Biden "very productive" and "cordial"

Collins: "It was a very good exchange of views. I wouldn't say we came together on a package tonight, no one expected that...but what we did agree to do was to follow up at the staff level...on how we can continue to work together"

Collins: "It was an excellent meeting and we're very appreciative that in his first official meeting in the Oval Office the president chose to spend so much time with us"

Fresh reminder that Dems still don’t control Senate committees because there’s still not a deal on the organizing resolution.

Durbin writes to Graham, who is still the chairman of Judiciary, asking him for a Feb. 8th hearing for Merrick Garland’s nomination to DOJ.

Durbin writes to Graham: "It is my hope....that you will reconsider your objections to proceeding with a February 8 hearing."

Merrick Garland still can't get a Senate hearing.

On CNN, Sen. Gillibrand floats the possibility of running Trump impeachment trial one day and working on COVID relief the next day.

“If we can't [do both] then maybe we delay the trial for a while [so] we can get Biden's cabinet up and running,” she says

"I find it hard to believe we'll get 17" Republicans needed to convict Trump, Gillibrand tells CNN

On MSNBC, Sen. Casey says it's possible Trump's impeachment trial will begin on the afternoon of Jan. 20th, immediately following Biden's inauguration.
