The fact that one must pay ridiculous law school tuition for years to even be allowed to test to be a lawyer is such a scam. If you can pass the bar without it, that should be just fine...
(Yes, this is personal 😏 I would be a fantastic lawyer. And am pretty sure my 16 years of professionally covering a massive array of legal issues has been a better education in The Law than many law students get.... )
PS does the above tweet make me feel ancient, you wonder? Why yes! Yes if does! (Shoutout to the Columbus, Ohio, Daily Reporter, which for some reason agreed to hire a theater major to cover law & state politics, way back when George W was still president...)
My proudest moment at that job was covering an Ohio Supreme Court case over eminent domain & an @IJ lawyer complementing the gadget I had attached to the top of my iPhone so that the phone could record digital audio files 😆

This is my cousin Johnny. He was one of the friendliest & most vivacious people you could meet. He loved fishing, theater, whiskey, cowboy boots, & most of all his family. After more than a month in the hospital battling COVID-19, the virus took his life in late January.
Johnny had been his family's only breadwinner recently, since his wife, Pam, is still in recovery from having a brain tumor removed last summer. Pam also cares for their adult son, who was partially paralyzed in an accident a few years back. They're struggling to keep afloat.
I know sad stories like this are a dime a dozen these days, & times are tough for so many. Also, you don't know these ppl! ...
didn’t think it was possible for me to have a significantly lower opinion of the state of US media than I already did &...wow are folks in my field working overtime to prove me wrong lately!
Now excuse me, need to go fact check a conversation I hear in the apartment hallway...
Phew, just stopped the man down the hall from saying something incorrect about rutabagas. What a thrill! It’s so nice to know now how my friends who fought in Afghanistan felt!
Can’t write about what’s happening in Congress today, I think I saw someone outside mailing a letter. You know there’s no backdoor access for government in those things?!?
Backpage was seized & its owners arrested BEFORE FOSTA became law, and @WIRED & @GiladEdelman need to issue a correction
The reason this matters is because members of Congress LIED about the pretenses for passing FOSTA & rushed it through against DOJ advice so they could keep up that lie, hoping it would be signed before DOJ separately took down Backpage. They still still failed—
Trump didn’t sign FOSTA into law until after the feds had taken down Backpage. But it was close enough that many politicians are still lying — and getting journalists to play along — about FOSTA being what took Backpage, even FOSTA actually has nothing to do with that prosecution
CNN was one of the biggest spreaders of this erroneous story about "sex trafficking" in Florida and never issued a correction. Instead, they're doubling down on the fake news cnn.com/videos/us/2020…
CNN was also an enthusiastic spreader of this story about Josh Hawley & sex trafficking at massage parlors that turned out to be totally false. (@CNN never issued a correction here either). Do the folks there literally never learn???? reason.com/2020/07/14/sen…
What makes @CNN so invested in this fake massage parlor sex trafficking narrative, that they're willing to keep repeating despite boatloads of evidence to the contrary? And why do people treat this as somehow different than QAnon......?
