THE PROBLEM WITH DAVID DOBRIK AND THE VLOG SQUAD: a thread

obviously if you’ve been on youtube in the past two years you know who David Dobrik is. Slovakian viner-turned-youtuber who constantly has videos on trending. big views. most popular video is his liza koshy breakup lol

what you might not know about David Dobrik is his own problematic behavior and his complicity in the harm of others. David associates himself with some shady people while also doing some shady shit himself.

as a TW this thread will be discussing sexual assault and harassment. there’s also going to be offenses much less serious (see: next tweet LOL) because I’m trying to gather as much info as possible so you can make your own informed decisions

let’s start with his biggest, most recent bad press: selling puzzles that have a QR code where you can ~maybe~ win 100k. basically a glorified gambling ticket. has no value as a product besides the QR code.

the total prize pool was estimated at 251k spread between 100k puzzles. there’s a 95% chance of getting .25 cents each go. cool product to shill to your teen fans!

this puzzle scandal has put a big magnifying glass on David. since then, there’s been a huge flow of info coming out about shady things he’s done, with Trisha Paytas being the loudest about it.

Trisha obviously has her own agenda but it’s important to understand what happened to her and why what David did wasn’t cool

for backstory, Trisha dated David’s 47 year old friend Jason Nash for a period of time in 2018ish. their relationship was filled with drama about Jason’s baby mama and Trish being...Trish.

To be blunt, Jason Nash is for sure a weirdo. Man is 47 and collabing with Charli (16 y/o) and the Sway House. Trisha also claims that he hooks up with underage and barely of age girls who have come forward to her, but these girls haven’t come forward publicly

the Jason-David-Trisha beef started growing when Trisha started arguing with David about the content of the vlogs. one example was when Trish had just gotten out of the shower and David pranked her. she told him not to include it so Jason’s baby mama wouldn’t

get angry at her. David included the footage anyways. In addition to this, David sat and listened to Trisha and Jason have sex for 15 minutes without Trisha knowing

soon after this Trisha got re-exposed for being racist in older videos. David would tell Trisha to sit in the car and hide while they vlogged, which pissed Trisha off.

but instead of just cutting Trisha out completely David kept using her for punchlines in videos. The breaking point was when Jason pressured Tana (18 at the time) and Trisha to make out for a threesome joke.

Trisha repeatedly expressed that she wasn’t comfortable. Yet Jason begs for the threeway, David calls Tana and Trish “broken girls,” and made jokes about Tana’s still-18-year-old asshole

Trisha texted David before the video went up and told him she didn’t like it and that he shouldn’t post it. David apologized to Trish for the joke and posted the vlog anyways. it’s since been deleted

so Trisha FREAKS OUT and goes on her anti-David tirade for the next two years. this has exposed A LOT of info

One good point that Trisha brings up is that David will not cut out the abusers in his group. David kept Durte Dom in videos despite allegations of Dom assaulting multiple girls. He left the vids for a short time but came back

in addition, David has DIRECTLY enabled people, namely Jason, to commit sexual assault. In a recent interview with H3H3, Seth, a former vlog squad member, revealed the traumatic nature of his interactions with David and Jason.

to summarize, on more than one occasion David set up Seth to kiss Jason while Jason was presented as someone else. the first time Seth was blindfolded, the second time Jason was dressed up as a gorilla (Seth is one of David’s only black friends btw)

In addition, during the Gorilla Kiss, David offered Seth 2k to star in a jerky commercial, which was just a setup for the kiss prank. After filming, David refused to pay Seth until Seth begged for the money so he could cover his rent.

Seth also stresses he did not consent to being kissed in these videos. David edited out any footage where Seth openly expressed his discomfort.

Seth and Big Nik both went on the H3 podcast to explore their relationships with David. Something that happened to both of them was another David fave: cutting people off once they say they’re not okay being dunked on anymore

Let’s talk more about Big Nik. Nik has a physical condition that makes him shorter than average. David and the Vlog Squad constantly dunked on Nik about his height

Nik felt uncomfortable confronting others about the height jokes because he knew it would mean he’d be out of the vlogs, like many other people before him. And he was right! When he confronted David, David phased him out of videos

Nik said while he initially tolerated the jokes, the constant barrage of insults from not only the VS but strangers on the street led Nik to a bad spot in his life.

Also notable is David and the gang’s attitude toward racism and black face in the past. David was more than okay with black jokes, especially at the expense of Seth.

David also enabled and supported the relationship between Brandon Calvillo (24) and Lacey James (17, high schooler). David kept both of them in the vlogs

People also dislike David using animals as props and disrupting California’s delicate ecosystem with his illegal but cute sugar glider (you can’t even bring fruit into CA because it introduces pests)

Another point is that David pays people to have things in the vlog. If you’re embarrassed he’ll wave $ at you so he can post it. Seth, Trish, and Nik all confirmed this happened to them in some capacity
