Abbott: There continues to be problems with natural gas and wind generation:
19K MW of natural gas generation still offline
17.2K MW of renewable also remain offline
2/
Abbott: South Texas nuclear power plant coming back online. So will coal plants. Small natural gas generators going on and off. Will add 3,000 MW over the next 24 hours. (Enough for 600K homes.)
3/
Abbott: New executive order now through Feb. 21 requiring energy companies to sell natural gas to Texas first.
A lot of natural gas from Texas was still being sold to places outside the state and shipped out of state even with millions of Texans without power.

Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd:
• 740 snow plows working to de-ice interstates
• Prioritizing and clearing routes to critical infrastructure like hospitals and power plants
• Working to find all available generators
• Will fly water, blankets, etc to hard hit areas
5/
Kidd:
• Wildfire vehicles being used right now to clear roads (Forest Service)
• Will set up points to distribute water
• Up to 300 warming centers statewide
• tdem.tx.gov/warm to find a warming center or call 211
6/
Kidd:
• Prioritizing dialysis network and moving people who need dialysis
• Buses moving patients from areas without power to those with power
• “211 has done a tremendous job.” Wait times down to less than 5 mins
7/
Abbott: for warming centers, people in cities call 311, people outside cities call 211
8/
Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Toby Baker:
• 276 boil water notices impacting just under 7 million Texans
• 135 can do required sampling to lift boil water notice
• Expect boil water notices to last for some time after weather clears and power returns
9/
Abbott:
• Every source of power the state has had been compromised — both thermal and renewables. Everything from coal to nuclear to natural gas to wind/solar.
Abbott walks back comments a little bit made on Fox News where he appeared to blame green energy.
10/
Abbott:
• ERCOT has not provided information about which areas will get power today when the 1.2 million homes get power again.
• ERCOT needs more transparency
11/
Abbott:
• Compares response to this to response to Hurricane Harvey.
• Also compares it to 2011 winter storm
• Wants review and maybe reevaluate decisions made in 2011
