I see a bit of confusion from people. This thread is all about Daft Punk's original robots which were made for the Discovery era. They very quickly updated the robots and by the end of 2001 had a version which required no backpacks/wires coming from the helmets but with less LEDs
1st photo: Lots of LEDs, lots of wires, backpack (2000/2001)
2nd Photo: Some LEDs, some wires, backpack (2000/2001)
3rd photo: Minimal LEDs, no wires, no backpack (2001-2003)
By 2005 they had completely removed the LEDs and compacted the design. Guy-Man's helmet still had faux wires in the back. Still made by Alterian Inc.
In 2010 they debuted the modern helmets with no wires and a very sleek look. Now made by Ironhead Studio, Inc.
Bonus: Electronic Press Kit for Discovery (2001)
Bonus 2: Daft Punk on magazine covers (2001)
