The SC has closed the suo motu case initiated after serious sexual harassment allegations were levelled against then CJI Ranjan Gogoi in 2019.

This despite the fact that Justice Nariman, who was on the bench that heard the case before, is still at the SC.

Gogoi is now a member of the Rajya Sabha.

His nomination was criticised because of the sexual harassment allegations against him, as well as because it was seen as ‘quid pro quo’ by the Narendra Modi govt for several pro-govt rulings during his time.

Petrol and diesel prices have surged in India over the last six weeks, largely tracking a rise in global prices, with Brent crude oil crossing $63 a barrel two days ago and gaining nearly over 50% since October 2020 so far.
