During the time that Washington state has grown to have the most unequal tax structure in the nation, providing a tax haven to big business and billionaires while instituting and repeatedly renewing and extending hundreds of corporate tax breaks,

while also doubling down on regressive taxes likes sales, use, property, and vehicle taxes, which disproportionately fall on working people and people living on fixed incomes:

- Democrats have controlled the governor’s mansion 30 out of 30 years

- Democrats have controlled the Senate 20 out of 30 years
- Democrats have controlled the House 23 out of 30 years
- Democrats have controlled all three centers of government power (“trifectas”) for 15 of those 30 years

- Democrats have controlled at least two of the three centers of government power for 28 out of 30 years.

We need a new party of, by, and for working people, a party that will not represent wealthy interests but fight for ordinary people and be rooted in social movements.
