🇫🇮Finland ranks best in Europe for fighting disinformation

And the country puts its success down to its children's robust education

@Harrietmbarber explains
In 2014 the government embedded media literacy into the curriculum, teaching children from the age of six to read sources critically

Finland has more reason than most to target disinformation

In 2014, when neighbouring Russia annexed Crimea Finns say their neighbours began bombarding them with disinformation
But the country has managed to inoculate its children against the scourge of fake news by teaching them how to to sift good claims from bad

It's a technique backed by rigorous scientific research, as @annegulland explained back in 2018

Like other countries this year, Finland has been swamped with Covid-19 conspiracies

But little has got through: more than 80 per cent of Finns say they are still willing to take the Covid-19 vaccine

The sunny days of Lockdown One feels very far away and if you're feeling fatigued, you're not alone.

But just why does this lockdown feel so different this time round?

The answer, as our editor @paulnuki explains, is in the data
🧑‍⚖️The rules have changed

A sense of not-quite normality may be playing a part as essential work has been defined more broadly, meaning more people can travel to and from work, and there is no longer a limit on daily exercise
🌨️The winter weather is definitely impacting our mood

Gone are the sunny days in the garden and parks that came with Lockdown One
