Fauci treats Israel's failure to uphold its obligations under international law as a "political question." He's endorsing medical apartheid by overlooking Israel's refusal to vaccinate the millions of Palestinians living under its military rule. What a coward.
He's letting himself be used as a propaganda tool by accepting the Dan David prize and touting Israel's apartheid vaccination campaign like this.
Israel refuses to vaccinate the Palestinian workers that are its captive labor force haaretz.com/middle-east-ne…
Israel delayed transfer of Palestinian Authority-acquired vaccines from the West Bank to Gaza, with some of its lawmakers wanting to condition the transfer of the doses on political concessions from Hamas electronicintifada.net/blogs/maureen-…
Israel is providing vaccines to undocumented persons and status-less refugees but not if they're Palestinian 972mag.com/covid-vaccine-…
Fauci touts Israel's socialized healthcare system. Meanwhile, Israel's siege of collective punishment on Gaza has brought the medical system there to the brink of collapse. Gazans die of treatable illnesses because Israel denies them permission to leave for necessary care.
But I guess a $1 million prize makes it all too tempting to ignore the ugly reality of occupation, apartheid and genocide in Palestine
My quick thoughts on the big and welcome news that an ICC pre-trial chamber has affirmed that the court has jurisdiction in the West Bank and Gaza:
Asking for a ruling on jurisdiction was an optional exercise and the chief prosecutor could have opened an investigation a year ago. The situation in Palestine only deteriorated during that time.
It’s a major victory for the rule of law. A war crimes investigation in Palestine will be a test of the court’s credibility, as heretofore it has only prosecuted African nationals.
