NEW: Dallas County Reports 333 New Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 25 Deaths,
Including 78 Probable Cases
Today we report 333 cases and 25 new deaths. Again, the numbers are artificially low for new cases due to power outages and disruption in the reporting system. This brings our death total to 204 deaths this week, the third deadliest week on record.
We do believe the case numbers are declining and we are seeing the lowest numbers in our hospitals since early November.
It's important that we all continue to focus on wearing our masks, maintaining physical distance, washing our hands, avoiding crowds, and foregoing get-togethers for a little longer.
We will resume vaccinations tomorrow, Sunday, at Fair Park, for those in need of a second shot whose 28th day was February 12th or earlier.
These are incredibly tough times with the grid collapse, the damage to or water system, broken pipes, and now electric companies who were not properly regulated poised to charge thousands and thousands of dollars to hurting Texas families.
My team and I will continue to do all that we can to help with, both, COVID and the latest crisis. I encourage you all to continue helping one another and focusing on the good. Don't let this get you down. We will get through this together.

How is it that Texans are facing sky high energy bills; what caused it and how can Texas fix it?
The energy market scheme was engineered by Texas leaders to benefit large commercial companies that use a lot of power. In Texas, commercial energy buyers... dallasnews.com/business/2021/…
can avail themselves to opportunities and bulk buying that small business and ordinary Texans can’t get. To do this, companies have employees/consultants who manage their energy purchases by taking advantage of dips in prices and hedging against risk...
With these companies in mind, Texas built a system that allows a broad range in buying choices but little consumer protection. The rest of us buy energy from retail sales companies that operate as “middle men”. These retailers neither generate or deliver power...
NEW: Dallas County Reports 290 New Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 40 Deaths, Including 98 Probable Cases
Today, we report 40 new deaths from COVID-19 and only 290 new COVID cases. The new COVID case numbers are artificial due to a lack of reporting and the lack of testing during the extreme winter weather.
Next week reporting should return to normal and we can see what the true numbers are. The trends we were seeing before the ice storms were encouraging and I'm hopeful that we are beginning to turn the corner in the fight against COVID.
NEW: Dallas County Reports 266 New Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 50 Deaths, Including 56 Probable Cases
Today’s Report Ties Highest Daily Number of Reported Deaths since the Beginning of the Pandemic
Today, we announce 266 new cases and 50 new deaths from COVID-19, tying our record for our deadliest day thus far in this pandemic. Included in the deaths are two men in their 20’s and a man in his 30’s.
At times like these, it can seem that there is no good news. We have seen a decline in the amount of new COVID-19 infections and most of our people do have their power on again. As the warmer weather increases and pipes thaw, we will see plumbing emergencies in many of our homes.
.@GovAbbott please apologize to Texans who lost power and immediately order your team @PUCTX to pass weatherization requirements like Oklahoma and the other states.
You chose not to do it before. Please do it now. @TexasHouse@TexasSenateGOP, please pass bills requiring this.

Generation is stubbornly staying at 47k Megawatts. It reached 50k yesterday but then declined. The problems stem from two main sources: A lack of winterization packages on generator plants and units and a lack of gas line modernization being required by state leadership.
NEW: Dallas County Reports 245 New Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 13 Deaths,
Including 126 Probable Cases
Today we report 245 new cases and 13 deaths. Our numbers today are artificially low due to the cold weather disrupting reporting processes. The overall trend though over the last two weeks has been very positive in that cases are declining.
Things are extremely difficult right now for everyone and social distancing may not be possible in some situations where families are taking in others.
