Celtic FC 20/21 - Where It Went Wrong

A thread:
09/08 Kilmarnock 1-1 Celtic

No obvious signs of worry here, these results happen & if it wasn't for a moment of madness we'd have walked away with three points.
26/08 Celtic 1-2 Ferencváros

We couldn't have picked a better draw in our 2nd qualifying round of the CL.

A one off match at home to a Hungarian side who hadn't qualified since 1995.

Started without a single striker & were knocked out at an embarrassingly early stage.
It's worth noting here Celtic wouldn't beat a team in the top half of the table from 27th September 2020 until the 10th February 2021.

Almost five entire months.
17/10 Celtic 0-2 Rangers

Celtic played an entire match at home & failed to register a single shot at goal.

Only one team wanted this from the start & a complete incompetence of dealing with set pieces saw Rangers run over the top of Celtic.
25/10 Aberdeen 3-3 Celtic

Celtic looked on course to take all three points with a quickfire double however an incapability to see out a match in its dying embers saw Celtic dropping another two points.

But still, don't panic... yet.
05/11 Celtic 1-4 Sparta Prague

This is where it gets messy... really messy.

Celtic were at home in their easiest fixture in their EL group against a second string side decimated by COVID.

We were completely played off the park, embarrassed & destroyed.

Alarm bells ringing.
21/11 Hibernian 2-2 Celtic

The first match back after the international break, a chance at a fresh start... no.

We relied on two goals in the final ten minutes to walk away with a point, again played off the park & dominated when we should have been making a statement.
26/11 Sparta Prague 4-1 Celtic

Neil Lennon said the result at home would never happen again, it took just 21 days for it to happen again.

Absolutely embarrassed once more, this is the match I feel Lennon should have lost the job at least giving us a chance to recover.
29/11 Celtic 0-2 Ross County

This should have been it.

Yet another embarrassing result & knocked out of the cup at home to Ross County.

I thought for sure he'd be gone, supporters protested & the club did nothing.

Shambolic.
06/12 Celtic 1-1 St Johnstone

Surely it can't get any worse?! Welllll...

We relied on a late, complete fluke of a goal to salvage a point in get another match at Celtic Park.

You think he can't survive this... he does.
20/12 Hearts 3-3 Celtic

We won on penalties & took the trophy home, that's all that matters on the day.

However, I do want to point out the fact that we conceded three & failed to beat a side in the division below us over 120 minutes.
02/01 Rangers 1-0 Celtic

Now it's Rangers turn not to have a shot on target but they still manage to win.

I can't fault anyone here, we were the far better team but wasn't our day.

League all but over.
🇦🇪 DUBAI 🇦🇪

The less said about this the better.

Basically travel across the world the day you throw away the league amidst a global pandemic killing hundreds of thousands, one of your players gets the virus & majority of the squad forced to isolate.

Oh & beers by the pool.
11/01 Celtic 1-1 Hibernian

Celtic are forced to play a youthful side due to the majority of the squad in isolation.

Another two points dropped following a late equaliser, league beyond gone at this stage.
16/11 Celtic 1-1 Livingston

Another match, another two points dropped... in fact I'll change that to a point gained.

We were lucky to get away with a point here, another shambolic match & the team looking completely lost.
20/01 Livingston 2-2 Celtic

A warm weather training camp in Dubai to prepare you for a midweek blizzard in East Lothian, you couldn't make it up 😂

Neil Lennon brings on Scott Brown as we're chasing a winner, he's sent off five minutes later.
30/01 Celtic 1-2 St Mirren

The worst thing about this one was nobody was surprised, nobody was surprised St Mirren came to Celtic Park & won.

Lennon by this point conceded the league was outwith our grasp.

A Celtic manager conceding the league in January is a disgrace.
22/02 Ross County 1-0 Celtic

Celtic travelled to bottom of the table Ross County with Lennon opting to start a midfielder who has became infamous for wayward shots over almost £10M worth of strikers on the bench.

Again, a failure to defend a set piece cost us.
In summary Lennon should have been gone in October.

His selfishness has lost all respect many fans had for him, he's putting his needs before the clubs.

We paid our hard earned cash for a season ticket we knew we'd never use & were given pathetic coverage of pathetic matches.
We made our views known & were met with promises of a 'review', things never improved in fact they worsened but the board continues to back Lennon.

There's not been this big a disconnection between club & supporters for as long as I can remember.
I'll finish with stating that we as supporters deserve more, yes we had unprecedented success but it doesn't mean we close our eyes when we see prevalent issues at the club we love.

The only way we move forward is if he goes, Lennon Out.
