This could be my first ever thread. Has been talk on my positive thoughts on the recent intra-club game that somehow all is great at Bomberland and we will have success. In reality that is one review from one days training as I saw it. There are positives but also clear concerns.

Positives- under 24 group at EFC are unified & from afar seem purpose driven to turn the club around. Led by McGrath, Langford, Ridley, Draper and Parish.
Caldwell has added needed depth, hardness & composure. Langford i think will improve again on last year to improve midfield

Jones is an exciting prospect but with no senior games we can’t expect too much too early. Wright will provide good options up forward but he will struggle in contested marking. Hind has been excellent in match simulation and Heppell looks very settled off half back. Moving well

The new draftees all clearly have talent but it would be wise to not expect too much too early as they will make mistakes (understandable) - Cox in particular can provide brilliance but also major clangers from foot. All a learning curve and body needing to settle. All good👍

The concerns i still have is the inconsistency in output at training still. Can be a hot & cold team in sessions which needs to be addressed by leadership group. I think they are genuinely trying too saying that.
Our forward setup is looking shaky with obvious inexperience.

Essendon will have a number of games where they cant put scoreboard pressure on. It took Hooker for one side to look a bit more potent in the recent game but you cannot rely on that. Stringer somehow needs to play at least 16 games. The midfield also needs to provide more scoring

The game plan will be under heavy scrutiny this year. Training drills for me so far have had a more shorter kick possession stye look. However it was our positive handball & longer kicks to clear marking targets that got our scores. Still unknown to me what the game plan is tbh

My expectations is that it’s a building year with a young group. Hopefully the standard is you get a game IF you’re performing. I hope to see some exciting footy with some good young talent. I don’t think that ends in finals with our forward setup but happy to be surprised.

Lastly it would not surprise me that Waterman sneaks a spot on the list and plays round 1. Such is the need for the side to create further scoring options.
