50-50 Senate News: Maine GOP Senator Susan Collins announced this morning: “I will vote against confirming” OMB Director nominee Neera Tanden. WV Democratic Senator Joe Manchin announced Friday he would also oppose her nomination, making it very hard for Tanden to be confirmed.
Schumer spoke about his support for Tanden yesterday in NYC: “I am working with President Biden to find the extra votes so she can be passed. I think she'd be a very good OMB leader.” Both the Senate Budget and Homeland Security Cmtes will vote Wednesday on her nomination.
Collins (R-ME): “Neera Tanden has neither the experience nor the temperament to lead this critical agency. Her past actions have demonstrated exactly the kind of animosity that President Biden has pledged to transcend.”
Collins:Tanden’s decision to delete more than a thousand tweets in the days before her nomination was announced raises concerns abt her commitment to transparency.Should Congress need to review documents or actions taken by OMB,we must have confidence the Dir will be forthcoming.

Schumer then filed cloture on Jennifer Granholm's nomination to be Energy Secretary, setting up Senate floor votes for later in the week.
