BREAKING: @GovNedLamont is changing CT's covid vaccination plan.

The new plan will be based solely on age, with one exception: teachers.

Beginning March 1, teachers and residents aged 55+ will be eligible.

This move bucks the guidance of the CDC and CT's vaccine advisory group, both of which recommended prioritizing residents based on risk.

While still prioritizing teachers, Lamont is snubbing many others (grocery store workers, restaurant servers, everyone w/comorbidities).
Last week, Lamont said everything was on track to expand to frontline essential workers and those w/comorbidities.

“All the essential workers will have the doors open to them...within 10 days, two weeks,” Lamont said Thursday.

We expect to hear more at today's 4pm briefing.

I'm feeling tired and discouraged, so here's a thread of impactful stories my colleagues wrote this week.

This work matters, and that's what I'm hanging onto right now.

First up, @capitolwatch on the 24-hr vaccination debate: courant.com/politics/hc-po…
Next, @ChristineDempse has been relentlessly tracking the storms over the last couple of weeks.

As an aside, she also spends hours each week answering calls/questions from readers, bc she cares deeply about our community.

Here's her latest weather story: courant.com/breaking-news/…
Last night, @zach_murdock posted an update to the Wethersfield police shooting that rocked the state.

The family of 18-year-old Anthony Vega Cruz, who was killed, has filed a federal lawsuit against the police officer and the town. courant.com/breaking-news/…
