Did #Gandhi Ji frame ‘India’ at an overwhelming cost to ‘Bharat’?

Will @narendramodi Ji frame the #AtmaNirbharBharat as the way to recovery.

Can we reclaim our place as the ‘VishwaGuru’?

Disclaimer: this is a common man’s reasoning in a micro-blog format. 🙏
Pls comment.
1. The revolt of 1857 was the last revolt. When it was over, it created a sense of despondency & fear amongst the masses.

2. The colonial slavery of the Indian spirit & people had begun & without further resistance.
3. In 1890s with the emergence of Bal Gangadhar #Tilak & his renewed call for Swaraj, there was some revivalism toward ancient heritage.

4. However the moderate congress at the time was complacent & compliant to the colonists & proved detrimental to this emerging revivalism.
5. In 1904-05, Asia had its first victory over an European Nation (Japan-Russia war)

6. This victory renewed nationalism, in the indigenous people of the colonised slave nations including India.
7. The Lal-Bal-Pal triad, tried to fight for total independence through a call for outright rebellion but proved limited in their reach to the masses largely due to the counter play of the moderates with their continued appeasement-type-protests.

8. The Congress was split.
9. #Gandhi Ji entered Indian politics during these times & quickly saw the divide & both side’s inabilities to connect with the masses.

10. #Gandhi Ji decided to capitalise on the existing spirit of nationalism to connect & gain momentum with the masses.
11. In order to channel the prevalent nationalism (which was flamed by the efforts of the likes of #Tilak) #Gandhi Ji had 3 options.

12. Option 1 was revivalism of ancient heritage.

13. Option 2 was the westward view of addressing the social ills.

14. Option 3 was doing both.
15. #Gandhi Ji chose the British-favoured colonial option to focus on eradicating socio-religious issues to gain momentum with the masses.

16. This also allowed #Gandhi Ji to transform the Congress by introducing ‘constructive’ work on these issues as their regular activities.
17. This enabled the Congress to connect with the masses. This success paved the way for #Gandhi Ji to become the leader of the congress.

18. #Gandhi Ji introduced democratic functioning within the congress party.

19. He also brought religious matters into politics to do so.
20. #Gandhi ji’s efforts to eradicate social ills such as untouchability, etc., led to a new era of mass awareness.

21. Nationalism was thus moderated into the political agendas of those times.

22. #Tilak unsuccessfully tried to convince #Gandhi to take a pragmatic approach.
23. As it did not suit #Gandhi Ji’s agenda, revivalism & focus on heritage was slowly overshadowed out of the mainstream.

24. Even Congress workers were discouraged to read about history, Indic sciences, etc. as it was not essential to their ‘constructive’ work.
25. This oversight, intentional or not was a significant missed opportunity for the Indic revivalism.

26. It also paved the way for the ills of colonialism to take roots in our society & plague us even so many years after independence.
27. #Gandhi Ji’s choice did not eradicate the targeted socio-religious issues entirely rather the issues have been compounded by equally problematic colonial ills.

28. It also led to the nation being split in 1947.
29. To truly eradicate the real ‘socio-religious’ issues, we have to take option 3 - we have to correct our history, give our heroes their rightful due, & look inwards into our heritage for our values.

30. With a revivalism of our heritage we can usher an Indic renaissance.
